Re: From the Forum Issue 91

Sonic & Knuckles, with or without Sonic 3. The graphics, the sound and the adrenalin rush that was Doomsday Zone are all unmatched in Sonic history.

Re: Say Something Nice About A Game You Hate

Sonic Heroes: Nice to see SEGA haven't forgotten about Chaotix. Now release the damn thing so I can play it.

Re: What are you currently playing?

Gave my XBox away for a while so I've decided to run through a few Zeldas on the Wii. I've already finished the first game, including the Second Quest for the first time, and I'm working through Ocarina now. Man, I didn't realise I'd forgotten so much.

Re: Cheats engrained in your memory

1G0TP1NK8C1DB00TS0N. It's a cheat code for Alien vs Predator on, I think, the PC. I've no idea what it does. I've never even played the game. I read it in a magazine or something and it just got wedged in there. Perhaps it's blocking out some other horrible memory I've forced myself to forget. Could...

Re: From the Forum Zelda Love

I did it without a map, years after it was first released.

I also rank Wind Waker way up there but you have a point about the nature of the world map making it difficult for Nintendo to erect natural barriers. Could have been worse. They could have used hurricanes for everything.

Re: New Vs Old - Yars Revenge Vs Yars Revenge

Surprised and delighted to see I'm not the only one who doesn't like the original. Not that big into Dragoon-em-ups either but I'll take it over the 2600 offering.

Re: From the Forum Zelda Love

I've carried out crazy fanboyish feats of love for most entries in the series, but the first one I played was Link's Awakening, and I still call that (or, rather, the DX upgrade for Gameboy Color) my favourite.

Re: From the Forum Issue 90

Even now I can't pinpoint a moment when 8-Bit "died." My first real console was a Megadrive and my mates' Master Systems and NESes were just other consoles that had different games on them. And they were still being played years after they'd vanished from shops. Ask me the same question about 16-Bit...

Re: New Vs Old - Street Fighter II VS Super Street Fighter I

I haven't played or even seen the 3D version, but I'll take any (decent) version of IV over any version of II. SFII's great and I love it but IV is better.

Re: Happy with your computers/consoles all those years ago?

Having a large number of games wasn't a big deal for me because none of my firends had vast libraries either, and six to ten or so felt like the normal amount. New games weren't even a Christmas & birthdays thing, they were way too expensive for birthdays so I was fortunate if I found one under the ...

Re: Stinkers you bought back in the day

Two Dreamcast games stick out: Dynamite Cop and Sniper Scope. I bought Dynamite Cop after enjoying the Dreamcast Magazine demo, back when there wasn't much to play on the machine yet. What I got was a game with no difficulty curve, incredibly lazy animation, awful graphics and a woeful plot, and had...

Re: Super Mario Allstars

smb3 is along game to finish in one sitting Not with two flutes it wasn't. I'm kinda like Antiriad, though I knew the games were NES-based but hadn't realised that the graphics had been updated. It had been years since I'd seen a NES at that point. When I was eventually did I was shocked at how "ba...

Re: This will take you back... Sonic 2 Level Select Cheat

I remember all of the cheats for this game, and what they represented, except the Super Sonic one. Does anybody know? The tunes you picked to get him were 04,01,02,06.

Level Select - 19,65,09,17 - Yuji Naka's birthday
Level Debug - 01,09,09,02,01,01,02,04 - Sonic 2's release date

Re: New Vs Old - Kirby's Dreamland V Kirby's Epic Yarn

Slightly (i.e. utterly) off-topic but just now when I logged into retrogamer.net I felt like somebody had ground a packet of Love-Hearts into my eyes. That new border is certainly a change from the dark stuff that's usually there....
