Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Three weeks and seventeen game crashes later (yes, I was counting) I've finally finished Majora's Mask! Well, missing one heart container. The last boss was ridiculously easy, literally took me less than a minute to kill all of his stages, but apparently that's because I had all the masks. Without t...

Re: Anyone watching the fight tonight?

I was listening rather than watching, which is always difficult. I thought Klitschko could have ended it sooner, but he had the sense to stick to his points advantage. Good for him. Aside from that the result was never in doubt for me, Hayes was never going to win that one.

Re: Bleak moments in games

Lemmings. Never have so many small furry animals died graphically for comedic effect. Dad was actually disgusted when he saw it.

I was also kinda sad that Granny Kong had died at some point between Donkey Kong Countries 2 & 3 (her ghost appears in 3). Poor Kranky.

Re: The curse of the unrelated sequel

Never played either the original or the sequel, but the latest issue of RG talks about Dune II so I may as well mention that and look cool and knowledgable.

Re: What other gaming forums do you guys visit.

None, no other retro gaming sites of any description, never mind forums. Retro gaming isn't my primary hobby so this magazine and forum provide more than enough to do me. Now that I think about it, I don't visit other computer gaming sites at all anymore. I've been cutting back on my hobbies these l...

Re: Official Feedback Issue 91

I noticed that too, I've always seen the core cast as being Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Robotnik and I had assumed that was the consensus.

Re: Issue 100.

I had a dream last night where my Issue 91 contained an ad for Issue 100. It was going to come with a cover dvd with a bunch of retro-related TV episodes on it, such as that episode of Commercial Breaks that dealt with Imagine.

Can't remember anything else, I was driving a forklift at the time.

Re: Official Feedback Issue 91

I realise I'm interrupting some rather deep thoughts but I just wanna say, I got the issue yesterday and that cover stood out incredibly well against the sea of other Sonic-themed covers screaming for my attention. Easily the most attractive and distinctive thing on the shelf. Good job!

Re: Favourite 3D Sonic Game?

I sold my Dreamcast during the week and tested both Sonics on it beforehand. I remember years ago thinking that SA2 was better, but playing them again, gotta say I had more fun with the original. I got Sonic Colours for Christmas but didn't really get into it. I loved Sonic Unleashed but acknowledge...

Re: Tron like it or hate it

I hadn't seen Tron until the pre-Legacy hype build-up convinced me it was about time.

The effects impressed me even by today's standards but the plot was terrible. I voted "okay." I haven't seen Legacy.

Re: Silliest Game Character Name?

I also thought that Waluigi was the laziest possible name for the guy until I learned that "waru" means "bad" in Japanese, and since "L" and "R" sound very similar in Japanese, the name made a bit more sense.

Still crap, though.

Re: What game has actually taught you something?....

Thanks for the replies, but rather than the 'funny' quips, I was more looking for examples of where games have taught you something academic, actually educated you about some area more then a teacher could possibly have done. Maybe this was due to the high immersion and production values in a game ...

Re: What game has actually taught you something?....

Not Grand Turismo, but probably Metropolis Street Racer on the Dreamcast. Nothing concrete, just some intuition stuff about how things will behave. Then Grand Theft Auto came along and nearly ****ed up my driving test by making me drive on the wrong side of the road. I've never held an actual handgu...

Re: NoE with another balls-up - OoT 3DS this time..

I got Ocarina 3DS today and had no problem registering it. Except for the ****ing postcode, the bane of all Irish people on the internet. We don't have postcodes over here. Usually inputting a bunch of 0s will do but this site is wise to that. I had to match a British postcode - then it told me it c...
