Re: Official Feedback for Issue 65

Got the issue today, so not much time yet to properly read it.. but there's a few bits I noticed: 1. As someone else mentioned before, I'm pretty sure the Namco Museum games all run from disc (but have to be accessed via the NXE game library) and you don't need online to start them. 2. There's a rat...

Why wrongly? The view that Nebulus, while technically impressive, was too frustrating to be worthwhile, is probably shared by a number of people (myself included!) I might be willing to accept that, but only if that same view is used on similar games. But stuff like Manic Miner is glorified to no e...

CraigGrannell wrote:(For what it's worth, Nebulus fans, I did ask John Phillips if he'd like to talk about his game for Retro Gamer, and he's not interested, sadly.)
I imagine he would be even less so if he saw his game being so wrongly dismissed here by some.

I'd say that's because she looks rather unremarkable...

As usual, I like the issue, despite someone clearly misjudging Nebulus... What I'm curious about is something different: With all the bleating about the ads in the back of the mag that crops up from time to time, has there really been no complaint about a certain picture on page 27 so far? I was a b...

Yes but we're not talking about pre-release games though are we? We're talking about importing finished ones. The Magazine review copies I've seen have all been standard normal promo disks. Again, I did talk mainly about pre-release games when I brought up devkit/debug hardware - why would we need ...

What I don't understand is WHY Sony (or whoever) should use this method as a way of punishing the publisher of a magazine. After all, I presume Sony (or whoever) is quite interested in as much coverage as possible in as many mags as possible? They are. But they don't want people to rush out buying ...

Aren't we talking about reviewing import games before they come out in the UK. I can certainly tell you how to get a PS3 that'll do that. In fact I'll sell you one for only £600. Heh. I was talking about devkit/debug hardware... which is still the only way to play pre-release PS3-games, as no impo...

If you're too witless a journalist to sort yourself out with import/modded machines, sure. Uh-huh... I'm sure your all-knowing wisdom can tell me how to get such a modded PS3 that is capable of reliably running debug code (interestingly enough, given that chippers so far haven't even managed to get...

But what should Sony or Konami actually do about it? I doubt it's illegal to write an article saying "I went to Japan, played a game, and it was good/bad". What kind of pressure would they apply to the publisher? Like Duddyroar said, they can (and do, it has all happened) withdraw any support. Now,...

For a good while the central train station shops in Munich had 2 copies each (=4), but the last time I was there a few weeks ago, they were gone... I guess about 100% of issues sold in Germany have to be subscriptions nowadays, which isn't that surprising.

Apart from that, Konami actively discourages (to put it lightly) magazines in Germany from reviewing import games.. and since Contra 4 apparently doesn't come to PAL-land, there's no review happening. That rarely ever happens here with the big publishers nowadays. For example, pretty much everyone ...

I wouldn't even know if you've given Contra DS a lower score than because I have no idea what magazine you work for. If you have given it a low score though you're clearly wrong ;) Well, I wouldn't have reviewed it in any case, as I've never been into Contra beyond fiddling around a bit with Gryzor...

If we love a game and we're afraid it's going to fall through the cracks, then we're going to champion it every chance we get. It's that simple. If you think that's arrogance then that's up to you. Yet again I think you have to differ on that. Championing a game is all fine and well, I like to do t...
