Top 10 Action-Adventures for 8- and 16-bit consoles

I completed my latest Top 10 List just a few nights ago, and I'm curious what the fans of my favorite magazine think about it. Please note that the reason you won't find the likes of Snatcher (Sega CD) or Maniac Mansion (NES) is that I'm going to do text adventures and point-and-click ones in a sepa...

Re: Which region rocked Sega CD box art?

I've been updating the Sega CD page, so you can now find each region's box art, title, and even the CD. Anytime I could find enough of the necessary images, I provided a link to the flag. http://timewarpgamer.com/top_games/sega_cd.html If you have any of the missing images, and would like to share t...

Re: Which region rocked Sega CD box art?

thevulture and twoheadedboy,

You make a good point about the overall solid EU artwork. I've reworked my introductory comments to take this into account. Thanks for reading and good to hear from you!

Which region rocked Sega CD box art?

The Sega CD gets a bad rap, in my humble opinion. In my continuing series that examines box art for 8/16-bit consoles, this time I'm taking a look at Sega's first foray into the CD-ROM realm. While I expected a Japanese/European blowout at the expense of U.S. offerings, I was surprised by how tight ...

Re: Sega Mega Drive Box Art Comparison: US vs. EU vs. Japan

Overheat, I actually scored a few decent pics off of amazon.co.uk. Thanks! McBoosh. That site's great. Muchos gracias! The Sega CD is one of my favorite platforms that everyone else seems to dislike. Awesome collection of PAL scans. Looking at them so far...It's going to be pretty brutal. There's li...

PAL box art?

I'm thinking next up will be the SNES. I've got tons of US and Japanese box art, but tracking down the PAL stuff seems a lot harder. Anyone know some good PAL-focused sites with images? Maybe an online game store that included pics of the game boxes?

Re: Sega Mega Drive Box Art Comparison: US vs. EU vs. Japan

Great work there - i have been fascinated by the differences in box art for ages now - it all began with the Strider box art. By the way, for Streets of Rage 2, on the US box, you ask 'wheres Max?' - i always thought that the grinning goon top left (next to the unnecessary girder) was Max. Bear wit...

Sega Mega Drive Box Art Comparison: US vs. EU vs. Japan

I know this magazine has quite a few Sega fans, so I wanted to share this recent feature: http://timewarpgamer.com/features/genesis_box_art_comparison.html Box art variation across regions continues to fascinate me. I just can't let go. And there's good reason. Once upon a time I owned a U.S. copy o...

Recently scored Just Breed for the Famicom. One of the best tactical RPGs ever. I'd even go so far as to say that if gives the mighty Shining Force II a worthy challenge...

Re: Name a game everyone should experience

A lot of great titles have been listed already, so I'll try to stay off the beaten path: Cocoron (Famicom) Vs. Excitebike (Famicom Disk System) Fushigi no Oshiro Pit Pot (Mark III/SMS) Snatcher (Sega CD) Gekisha Boy (aka Photo Boy) (PC-Engine) Gate of Thunder/Lords of Thunder (TG-CD) Gunstar Heroes ...

Re: Free NES game on the Wii - Recommendations?

I've got lots of recommendations, and I'm pleased to see that the BIG N is finally rewarding its loyal customers. If I were in marketing for Nintendo, every single Wii would have sold with a free 500 point VC download, provided that you get your Wii online! Anyway, when you talk 500 points I think N...

Re: Questions and Suggestions about the Site

3) Provide some sort of incentive for one people to write the most game reviews over a given period of time, This is a terrible idea. It will just encourage people to post quick sub-par reviews or as we've already had problems with, just copy and paste from other sites and/or Wiki entries. I can un...
