Re: Best PC Engine CD Games

Great thread. The Duo remains my favorite retro console ever. I've got the U.S. version, and I still remember picking it up on clearance at Toys 'R Us way back in the day for $99. Anyway, y'all have hit many of the best games already, but here's the list I've been working on over the last few years ...

If you enjoy this sort of box art comparison, you might find my most recent installment, devoted to the NES, interesting as well:

NES Box Art Showdown — All Three Regions head-to-head

Have y'all seen how awesome the box art is for Mega Man 3's release in Europe? It was definitely an eye-opener for me when I put together the latest installment in m box art series: http://timewarpgamer.com/features/box_art_disparity_nes.html Anyway, I figured you retro gamers might enjoy this featu...

Re: Retro Gamer Now On IPhone

You're not missing anything, in the same way that if you bought a CD in HMV, you'd also be able to buy it on iTunes or Amazon's MP3 store. Thanks, man. Glad to see I'm not off my rocker on this one. Seems like a much better version of this app would include a demo for non-subscribers, featuring som...

Re: Retro Gamer Now On IPhone

I'd love to view the issues I receive via subscription on my iPhone. However, when I went to the app store, it looked like I not only had to pay a charge up-front, but I'd also have to purchase soft copies of issues? Am I missing something here? I'd rather carry around the hard copies than pay addit...

Re: Best hardware combo of their respective eras?

The TurboGrafx-16 doesn't fit especially well into any era. With an 8-bit processor and 16-bit graphics, it really represented a bridge between the 8-bit and 16-bit eras. Slap on the CD-ROM drive and a Super System card and you also have CD-ROM games that rivaled those of the Sega CD. The TurboDuo w...

SNES Box Art Across the Regions

Finding PAL box art for the SNES online is one hell of a challenge. Any advice on great sources—so far only GameFAQS has proven reliable for me—is greatly appreciated. Anyway, I finally managed to pull together another box art feature, and you can find the latest here: http://timewarpgamer.com/featu...

Re: Top 10 Action-Adventures for 8- and 16-bit consoles

TwoHeadedBoy and Vir_Lucis, First off, thanks for the positive feedback. Too often, in this age of the impersonal Internet I wonder if anyone digs my site and if I should bother spending more time developing it. It's a labor of time and effort, so hearing back from fans makes me willing to plunge on...

Re: Top 10 Action-Adventures for 8- and 16-bit consoles

A well put list as always despite the hurtful omission of Castlevania: Chi no Rondo. I'm a HUGE fan of the PC-Engine. Probably my favorite console ever. And Castlevania: Chi no Rondo will easily make my top 10 platformers list. While it offers non-linear gameplay, it doesn't have the puzzle-solving...
