Re: NES Box Art Showdown — All Three Regions head-to-head

Thanks to help from someone familiar with German NES box art, I just added a version for Mega Man 2 to my original feature.

Good catch. Just me saving the most burdensome (so many frickin platformers!) genre for last. Maybe I should add a placeholder, thigh, and say "coming once I've played them all."

Re: SMS Box Art Disparity — Japan vs. Rest of World

I've loved every one of these box art comparison features that you've written so far - they are truly awesome - seriously, keep up the good work - it's fantastic. In fact, do you have a page anywhere on your website with links to them all, as I'd really like to read through them all again, I've enj...

SMS Box Art Disparity — Japan vs. Rest of World

Howdy. I recently completed a new part in my box art comparison series, and since the Sega Master System was much more successful in Europe than in the US, I though y'all might enjoy it. http://timewarpgamer.com/features/box_art_disparity_sms.html Can anyone give a plausible explanation for the grap...

Re: A top 100 I have seen recently.

Obviously, top lists "ever" will always be controversial, but here are just a few obvious issues:

Halo 3 at #10
--Way too high

Mario Kart Wii at #25
--Not the best Mario Kart by any stretch

Fire Emblem at #88
--No effort to choose a particular installment?

Re: What are the Best 8/16-bit RPGs?

I know the TurboGrafx isn't exactly a big fixture in Retro Gamer, not to mention PC Engine CDs for the console, but I just added a bunch of titles to my recommended RPG list, two Cosmic Fantasy games and two Far East of Edens. I really wish some English fan translations would come out for these... h...

8- and 16-bit Console Adventure Games

Admittedly, PCs are really where you see the greatest adventure games, but there actually are a surprising number of top-notch ports to consoles, even some exclusives. My latest top 10 focuses on this very genre, and I wanted to share it with you... http://timewarpgamer.com/top10s/adventures.html .....

Finally added U.N. Squadron to the recommended list. A remarkably deep game, and an impressive early SNES title. If only Capcom could have cut out the flicker, though.

Contra (NES) Music Tribute

I recently put together a nice easy-to-navigate collection of clips from Contra (even the Japanese only clips), and I thought y'all might enjoy it. http://timewarpgamer.com/features/music_contra.html While there are quite a few good songs in the various Contra games, I still think the original is ro...

Favorite 8- and 16-bit Console Racing Games

Howdy, y'all. I recently updated my Top 10 Lists with this feature...

...and I was wondering what y'all thought. Any glaring omissions? Anything I should drop entirely? Is Top Gear 2 better than the original Top Gear?

Enjoy!

Re: Biggest NES Box Art Comparison Ever — 140+ Games

The Dragon Warrior/Dragon Quest box art comparison is interesting. The US box style goes for quite a straight sword and sorcery look with tradionatal life-like dungeons and dragons painted artwork. But the Japanese boxes have the Akira Toriyama (Dragonball) illustrations. It's interesting to think ...

Re: Biggest NES Box Art Comparison Ever — 140+ Games

Very interesting stuff- I always find the Japanese box-art for Western developed/themed games really interesting (look at the A Boy and his Blob and Boulder Dash in particular!) but there's one odd thing- some of the games only have one box cover as they were only released in one region, which some...

Biggest NES Box Art Comparison Ever — 140+ Games

No individual game commentary from me, just a whole crap-ton of boxes side-by-side, making it easy to compare the three major regions:

Hope y'all enjoy, and I look forward to seeing your opinions and comments.

Re: Sega Mega Drive Box Art Comparison: US vs. EU vs. Japan

Thanks for all the comments, and the beautiful Japanese box art. If you're interested in comparing NES box art, too, I recently created a huge list of over 140 boxes across the three regions. Warning: This page will take a while to load. Anyway, you can find it here: http://timewarpgamer.com/feature...
