Re: What type of Arcade game player were you?

Played for score in the main but loved trying out new stuff and watching really good players. I drew a crowd twice in my life - once while playing Moon Patrol on which I could almost complete both courses on 1 credit. I later discovered that the cabinet I played on had a dodgy joystick which only le...

Re: Questions for Jim 'VCS' Huether

Excellent!

I quite like flag capture. It gets a lot of criticism but it's a fun game in one or two player mode. One of my daughters is very fond of it!!!

Re: Issue 157

That would be better instead of being given a wildcard.. I've no problem with an abstract thing - but it needs to be relevant and how can you be in a retro game magazine if you don't play retro games? I'm actually quite disappointed the editors deemed that OK. There's a certain air of arrogance abou...

Re: Questions for Jim 'VCS' Huether

When you built in the option of moving flags that bounce off the walls in Flag Capture were you deliberately looking to make the toughest 2600 game ever?

Re: Arcades–thrill from thought of losing money, or from gam

Back then , walking into an arcade , going up to the change kiosk and breaking a pound note into ten 10ps was one of life's pleasures.

Even better - breaking a fiver for four ones and 10 10s. Bliss.

Re: Arcades–thrill from thought of losing money, or from gam

Money was a means to play a game. It was the price you paid for the entertainment - that was all. When 20p credits came along those games didn't get as much attention from me. When you're on a budget every coin counts. Dragon's Lair was a rip off as far as I was concerned - not enough playtime for y...

Re: Issue 157

I'm 50 years old and have been playing games since they hit the arcades and pong consoles appeared. I still play games from every generation. As the years go by some older stuff may drop off my playlist but by and large I enjoy a good game if it's a good game - no matter what its age. My tastes are ...

Re: Your Favourite Five PS1 Games

I never really liked the sort of game the PS1 was well known for so my list might be a bit off the beaten track.

Kurushi Final
Castlevania Chronicles
Tempest X3
Bishi Bashi Special
Via Ribbon

Re: Five 8-bit Games You'd Still Play Today

There are a few 8bit micro games I would play again despite my dislike of 8bit micros. That era almost put me off gaming for good. It was a mate buying a Master System that rekindled my interest (though I ended up getting a NES after playing SMB on a Playchoice 10). 8 bit micro games - Chuckie Egg, ...
