That Speccy book...

Morning all,

Quick question, a little while back some chap released a Spectrum bible type thing (like Merman's 64 book iirc) but I can't seem to get a hold of it.
Anyone point me in the right direction? Even the name of the book would be a start!:)

Thanks

Re: Games you just can't be bothered with.

MGS2 - Started to play it... well, I say play it, I mean stare at a very poorly acted and scripted cutscene for 10 minutes and then, having been given control of the character for a good 10 seconds, I was treated to another 10 minutes of excruciating UNSKIPPABLE cutscene before I switched it off and...

Re: From the forum question for issue 64

Lots to choose from. Half-life/Half-life 2 for adding a good storyline to the shooting. Doom for being the first one to grab me.... Difficult.... Can I have System Shock 2? It's played in the first person and you shoot things.... alright, it's got RPG elements too but that just makes it more ace. Ye...

Re: Favourite (End of) Movie Fights

Best movie fight is the one in They Live. It's not at the end but it's just the most brutal fight I have ever seen! Great stuff.

Yeah, the Arkanoid link is what made me think it would be of interest to these boards, glad it's peeked your interest.
Let me know what you think when you play it.

Re: Any feedback appreciated...

Yeah, its a good point. They seem to be approaching it all wrong. The Xbox Live Arcade was a great idea but then Microsoft got very upity about who could release a game for it (mostly the big devs) and they had limited slots available so unless you knew the chaps responsible for allocating slots you...

Any feedback appreciated...

Bit of a plug I'm afraid chaps. My flatmate and friends, all stalwarts of the games developer industry (I worked with them at a few UK devs) have released there first independent game on XBox Live Market place. Take a look here http://marketplace.xbox.com/en-GB/games/media/66acd000-77fe-1000-9115-d8...

Re: Places which remind you of a game

The estate on which I live looks remarkably like a Doom level.
It's quite scarey.

Oh no, now you got me started! "Stand back Boy! This calls for divine intervention!" "I'm the priest who kicks arse for the lord" Braindead! Re: The N64 was a HORRIBLE console

It's an interesting discussion. Clearly a lot of people with a lot of love for N64... and a lot of hate as well mind you:) I don't think a polarised view should be taken, the N64 was a mistake in certain areas, particularly in business decisions and developer relations but when it comes down to it, ...

Re: The N64 was a HORRIBLE console

It wasn't a terrible console but it got a few things wrong. What killed it was not the technical limitations (although they played their part) but more the business decisions Nintendo made. Particularly with third party developers. I speak as someone who worked for such a developer during the period...

Re: first game ever finished? (without cheating)

Easy one for me: Starquake on the Speccy. Loved that game. Around the same time I completed Bruce Lee (but everyone completes that) and Saboteur, another great game in my opinion, really got sucked into that. These days, completeing games is flipping easy. Took me minutes to complete COD 4 it seemed...
