Re: More woe for nintendo

peaking of EA, how many games do you think they released last year? I make it just 12 that actually got stand-alone boxed releases: SimCity, Battlefield 4, Crysis 3, Dead Space 3, Fuse, Army of Two, NFS: Rivals, FIFA, Tiger Woods, NBA Live, NHL and Madden/NCAA Football. Considering that half of tho...

Re: More woe for nintendo

Just as a discussion point, making the games isn't the only factor - a game needs marketing, publishing, selling in etc. Just from my point of view, these are games I worked on last year, some Nintendo published, some Nintendo first party. I can tell you, it was incredibly busy! I'm not trying to pr...

Re: More woe for nintendo

I would like the next Zelda to be set in a realistic world, on a hi-res council estate. All the old games with artistic interpretations and colour are junk, just give me super mega hi-res textures and a Link in a Stussy hoodie. That would be perfect.

Matt_B wrote:Yeah, but it's Mario Kart. As long as it's not hideously broken - and that'll usually revolve around the presence and effectiveness of the dreaded blue shell - who gives a monkeys what the review scores are?
And the happy ending to this is the review scores are great :)

Re: More woe for nintendo

Sorry a bit of my last post came out wrong - I meant I find it funny people are still buying the new Xbox and Sony consoles for a ton of cash when there's pretty much bug*er all to play on them, actually it's more worthwhile owning a PS3 or 360 at the moment. But still they are selling around 10,000...

Re: More woe for nintendo

For me, I wonder when is enough for people? It's never enough it seems. Well that's the price to pay when your system is lacking important and desirable multi-format titles like GTA V, Dark Souls 2, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Far Cry 3, Metro: Last Light, Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, most of EA's games, Wh...

Re: Best Japanese region-free games (PS3/360/Wii)?

Eschatos and I *think* it's region free? It looks a bit retro, but the gameplay and music are phenomenal. (xbox 360)

Re: More woe for nintendo

A game doesn't always need to be innovative to be good - and also I consider new players, not just us old fogeys. A 12 year old kid could feasibly play Super Mario 3D World and it be his first ever 3D Platform experience, or Zelda Wind Waker his first Zelda. If you gave me every Mario game, I would ...

Re: More woe for nintendo

For me, I wonder when is enough for people? It's never enough it seems. Wii U has core game experiences - Monster Hunter, Wonderful 101, Pikmin 3. Zombi U. 3D World and Mario U are arguably 2 of the best platformers on any system, Donkey Kong is gorgeous and rock hard. There's the 2 NES remix games ...

Re: More woe for nintendo

If you see Mario 3D World and Mario Kart 8 as just HD updates, I'd suggest it's not the console for you. In the same way that other games get sequels, these are also full blown sequels, for example, Mario Kart has 16 full new tracks, new characters, new vehicles, etc etc. (among other things)

Re: Wii U Owners Thread - Including User IDs

^ Yes! It's great, really reminds me of 8-bit games in a weird way, like something that was designed on a Speccy. Even though it's obviously modern.

Re: More woe for nintendo

I guess the point I'm trying to make is Mario Kart is the best chance for a sales uplift (not saying it will or won't) - more so than having an F-Zero, a Metroid, Zelda, whatever else that people seem to think is needed. Those other titles are booster titles and sell to the install base mostly - Ma...

Re: Wii U Owners Thread - Including User IDs

Nintendo's free game offer is amazing, so good in fact that i've now got 3 copy's of Mario Kart 8 pre ordered! get the free game codes out of 2 of them and trade them straight back in.. Now I just need to decide which 3 games to download :D Interesting... Have you got any reason the believe this wo...

Re: More woe for nintendo

MK7 might have played a big part in turning around the 3DS, but that machine was still fairly young at the time, with its first Christmas period in sight, and its struggling sales were about ten times what the Wii U is shifting now. I'd think that absolutely the best MK8 can do for the Wii U is to ...
