Re: From the forum issue 94

My vote goes to Indiana Jones and the last crusade. My brothers and me loved the movie and so we were extremely glad to see a perfect port coming to our Amiga. The game retained all the humour, the gags and the charisma of the film, up to its epic conclusion, and even adding quite a few nice origina...

Re: Screenshot challenge.

That's Dark Seal, from Data East, arcade.
Not to be confused with Dark Seal 2 (a.k.a. Wizard Fire), recognisable by the different position of the magic bar (horizontal instead of vertical).

If I am correct, someone else can have my go, since I'll be busy for a while.

Cheers

Re: Stand out moments

How is no one has yet mentioned finishing Samantha Fox Strip Poker as a stand out moment?

Anyway, back in the Amiga times, I felt compelled to play over and over again almost any intro from the Psygnosis games, particularly Shadow of the Beast 2 and Armour Geddon.

Re: Bleak moments in games

One example from the distant past: the Imagic games Atlantis and Cosmic Ark were linked by the story. When Atlantis was finally destroyed by the invaders, a lone surviving small green flying saucer managed escaping, thus avoiding the utter anihilation of a civilisation and complete extintion of a ra...

Re: How do you play your retro?

Although I would love to play everything on its original hardware, I usually play older games by emulation; especially old computer stuff for which loading times are far too long by today standards. or because the floppies and tapes and orginal equipment are so unreliable after 20 + years they risk...

Re: Video games with food & drinks

I'll add Activision't Plaque Attack on the Atari 2600.
And of course Mangia' (I always wondered WHY there's an accent on the last 'a', it makes the pronounciation all wrong...), from Spectravideo on the same console. How to turn a stereotype in a game...

Re: Games you have spent most time on

Amazing. There sure has been a time when I too could spend tenths of hours playing a game without even noticing. So many adventures and RPGs required hours over hours of dedication, like for example Dungeon Master that I've finished over and over and over again, even with customised characters. On t...

Re: your thoughts on resident evil

My first RE game was the RE4 on the Game Cube, which I did love a lot. I tried playing the GC remake of the first RE and I liked it so much until I started playing the actual game. Maybe I was biased by the mechanics of RE4, but I found first the controls to be ineffective and then the fighting mech...

Re: Screenshot challenge.

'Looks like a port of the C64 Game 'Atom Ant: Up and Atom'. I'd say Spectrum, by the look of it.

As a child I used to watch the cartoons, so I recognised the character. Not that I had ever played the game.'

Damn... beaten by the second....

Re: Small or silly things that can turn you off a game.

I agree with the comment about games supposedly putting the player under pressure and then allowing them to browse around for ages, without doing anything about the situation they should instead be facing. This is particularly silly in RPGs and massively in MMORPGs. Another thing that puts me off is...

Re: Cheats engrained in your memory

OOH! And MOTHERF___INGKIWIBASTARDS in New Zealand Story on Amiga also.Infinite lives I think. It actually was MOTHERF__KENKIWIBASTARD. I learned to type it at the speed of light, definetly improving my typing skills. Another quick typing string was SYS64738 on the C64, but hey... that wasn't really...
