Re: Questions for David Jones

What did you think of your Magic Knight games (after Finders Keepers) only coming out on budget; especially when they were often better than much of the full price stuff out there?

Re: From The Forum issue 183 - Tetris: Best puzzler ever?

Tetris is not a puzzle game, there's nothing to solve, it's a twitch reaction arcade game. But in term of "Tetris style" games, there's been like a billion clones each trying to add their own (Dr) Spin to proceedings. Although there are some interesting variations, most of the gimmicks are pretty u...

Re: games where the original was best

Jack The Nipper Rolling Thunder Golden Axe Toejam & Earl Grand Theft Auto (Original 1997 PS1 release) In and of themselves I rather liked the sequels of these games - Except Jack The Nipper II, which I just never got into - but the originals were certainly better than their sequels. Same here , esp...

Re: What games would you like to see remastered?

I've been playing Arnhem, Desert Rats and Vulcan lately and think they'd all stand up well with a modernized user interface and graphics. I think what's particularly nice about them is that they find a middle ground between the unrealistic board game mechanics of games like Civilization and the rea...

Re: 2017/18 Football season chat

Season is barely over and already another two Premier League managers have gone. Sam Allardyce has been sacked as Everton manager and David Moyes has left West Ham. Atletico Madrid won the Europa League by beating Marseille 3-0. Moyes wss never the right fit at West Ham. Altbough he would do a good...

Third stretch goal reached - so for £15 you get the annual, a ZZAP calendar and an enamel badge.
Great news!. Any reason it's a Sizzler instead of a Gold Medal?

Re: Which arcade game were you best at

I could do ok on Double Dragon using the backward elbow, and Euro Football Champ i'd usually get to the semis and Tecmo world Cup i could usually win every time. That's
about it though!

Re: Zzap!64 Annual 2019 Kickstarter

I think the content has already been decided, but it's something I could do... Sounds good, I'd certainly back it. We seem to have so many books now about games we've played and none about those games that didn't quite make it. And if the old Zzap! crew gave them reviews same as they did back in th...

Re: Zzap!64 Annual 2019 Kickstarter

Good, this needed to happen. Crash! was done really well. I'd really like to see some of the 'games that weren't' reviewed rather than homebrew, and the c64 has a number of those. I think the content has already been decided, but it's something I could do... Sounds good, I'd certainly back it. We s...

Re: Zzap64 Annual kickstarter now open

I'm in with this, this is the first kickstarter campaign Ive decided to be patient enough for. :D just a liiitle bit disappointed that (as far as I can see) Paul Glancey wont be having anything to do with it as he was my favourite reviewer.. but admittedly havent looked all that closely yet. If you...

Re: games where the original was best

Much preferred originalVirtua Tennis to 2 as it was an easier more fun game, as were the mini games. Also The Secret of Monkey Island was better than all the sequels. I don't understand when people say Le Chuck is the best; it's much bigger but that makes it harder, Guybrush is meaner and not as muc...

Re: 2017/18 Football season chat

Not sure what Wenger's replacement is going to do. You need to spend £50m+ to get a finished article who will do well in the the PL, world class after the WC is gonna be min £80m probably £100m plus. Arsenal aren't going to win the league with the squad they've got, and aren't prepared to pay the ca...

Re: games where the original was best

Also OutRun as a racing sim? It was definitely an arcade racer, pure and simple. I'm not saying it was a sim racer; aside from a few isolated early examples like Chequered Flag and Revs - which weren't likely to have much influence on Japanese arcade manufacturers - sim racing as a genre didn't rea...
