The only problem with that is that it leads to boring journalism. Much like the Independent, which is quite possibly the most boring paper on the face of the planet.

Did you know that it's actually been scientifically proved that it isn't!? As long as the first and last letter are correct and the word is the right length the human brain usually fills in the rest. I mean, look at the words used in text messages. Hey , he's fcking rght you knw! It's not al...

Interesting thoughts people - I will ruminate. And then irritate you all by coming back and asking more questions :)

Somewhere between £5-10. You mean cost price , or price for Sony to manufacture? Hey , you may be right , but I find it hard to believe that if Sony produced 10,000 PS2 graphics chips it would cost them close to £100k It all boils done to "economies of scale". The raw materials to create a chip a...

For anyone with a PS3: Can the stuff on the PS3 HD be copied to and from a PC through the network lead, or are you knackered once you use up the 40Gb? If I could move stuff about, then the 40Gb is probably not a problem at all, but if it fills up and I then have to start deleting things I've bought...

Who the hell are they even targeting with the £300 pack. The great swathe of stupidity that passes for the General Public. It's a shame because the £350 bit is a remarkable piece of common sense price cutting, overshadowed by possibly their dumbest move ever. And that's saying something. But not ...

My word, what's that disappearing over the horizon? Oh, never mind - it's just Sony's last shred of credibility.

That's a force of nature, not a reason. The simple fact is this: if using the device in a vertical position was a bad thing, the instructions would tell you about it, and they sure as hell wouldn't put a stand in there! But I understand that some people might like to lay their consoles flat. To eac...

How does one go about critiquing video games?

Or more properly, "How does one go about critiquing video games, especially 'retro' video games"? Back in 1996 I stopped buying games magazines. It wasn't that I didn't enjoy them, afterall there were some very amusing articles written, but for reasons twofold: 1) I spent more time reading about gam...

Stick a kid in front of a TV with any console, from any period, and they'll have fun (not that they'd admit it - but sticking my 3 year old niece in front of a TV with one of those Atari 30 Games in a Plug 'n' Play format sure kept her quiet!).

As a big kid, it's all just games to me :)

The Third Alternative is not dead!

Woo Hoo!* TTA was a fantastic short fiction magazine which disappeared late 2005; I had few hopes that it would resurface, given that the publishers had taken on Interzone... happily TTA has transmogrified into Black Static, which is pretty much TTA, but darker.... much, much darker! If you have any...
