Christmas covermounts

Darran's asked me to write a feature about Christmas and videogames for our December issue, and one area that I really wanted to touch on was Christmas covermounts. If anyone remembers recieving a great covermount during the Christmas period please leave a post. I'll kick things off with Christmas N...

Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe

Hey, just wanted to draw attention to this great little show that's on BBC 4. I'm sorry I can't be more schedule-specific, I keep catching the thing by accident you see, which either means it's repeated quite a bit or I'm being magically drawn to it in some way. If you need a premise though, think H...

Yep, I spotted that. That 'pointless episode' remark was taken out of context when the piece went to subbing. I agree it's a great game, but what I meant was the first four sections of the games felt pointless - because of the new abilities of Mario: the fact you didn't need to use the ladders, bec...

You lot are only choosing Alex Kidd so you can pretend to beat up Stuart Hunt!

Geez, I forget to mention how brilliant the Speccy version of Bomb Jack was in a boxout and now you guys want blood...

Well, I'd choose Alex Kidd because I could do with the royalties. Although fighting people via paper, scissors and rock hand gestures could become an issue. Personally, I'd like to see Shadow the Hedgehog make an appearance, so I could select him, place the Wii remote on the floor and cheer on the o...

I'm sorry too, didn't mean to sound so venomous when I did actually enjoy the article (and your Magnificent 7 roundup too). I liked DKR more than Mario Kart 64 too (a LOT more), but I really don't think it was more popular, especially not in the long term. More people seem to be aware of Mario Kart...

I'm happy as long as they stick to the NES port, it was much better than the arcade version. Apparently, Darran was telling me that the mulitplayer in Lost Planet uses a winch arm thingy, I've never played it but I bet that's how the game's gonna play out. Well, as long as the arm fire 45 degrees, a...

[quote="Rev. Stuart Campbell"]The US version of Donkey Kong doesn't bring up stages "randomly". In fact it follows a pretty obvious sequence that runs 1, 2, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 4 (where the Japanese levels correspond to the numbers). With no ladder cheat I'm utter garbage at the US version. I only eve...

I wasn't impressed by a couple of Stuart Hunt's personal opinions. The 1994 version of Donkey Kong was a fantastic little gem that captured the spirit of the old games well, the new abilities were essential to solving puzzles and there were plenty of nods to both the original Donkey Kong and Donkey...

BombJack was spoiled by really immature "comedy" write up at the start and finish of article, "he now lives next door to Bomberman, and they are not best mates (or something similar) - the most cringeworthy writing I have seen in RG for a long, long time. Sorry King, that was me mate. Although, I'll...

Comic Book

You should try and track down the graphic novel by Anjan Sarkar - it's very Preacher esque and differs in places, but it's as good as the movie.
