Re: Retro gaming in Tokyo

I know this topic is getting on a bit- But I am mega jealous of travellers that make the pilgrimage to Japan and those fantastic gaming areas. Anyone who wants to brag by loading photos into this topic, most welcome! Would love to see some pics of travels in these gaming Holy Grails!

Re: Non-gaming music that reminds you of game music

Quite a few electronic acts reminds me of the atmospheric type of thing you would hear around the PS1 era, up to modern. One that comes to mind for me is the Trent Reznor/NIN Ghosts I-IV. I always thought Gary Numan would create top notch game soundtracks loaded with atmosphere, and I do like his op...

Re: In case anyone thought that Atari console was actually going to happen...

I'm self employed and I know loads of other people who are and there's no way anybody would keep working if they were more than a couple of weeks out of pocket. To way they haven't been paid for 6 months sounds a little over dramatic. To be fair I would assume the guy would be a freelance tech type...

Re: Dave Perry

I'm always weary of judging a person by how they come across in the media. Anyone can trash talk in a game session and be handed their ass on a plate! But it is hard to assess a person if you don't really know them, and I'm really uneasy about jury by social media which happens so much in modern ti...

Re: In case anyone thought that Atari console was actually going to happen...

I was very wary of this, especially after Vega+. Although more interested in the Intellivision project personally. But was hoping to be proven wrong for the backers sakes

Re: The first games you completed.

Probably Transylvania and Castle Wolfenstein on the schools Apple II. Actually, it would have been the old Lunar Lander printout game on the schools TI calculator !!! Man that's going back! At home, I can't actually remember tbh. Highlights that spring to mind are from 16 bit era, I remember loving ...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

Loving the first two episodes of What We Do In The Shadows, spin-off from the film of the same name. Keep an eye out for a show called Wellington Paranormal, by the same kiwi makers. Same deadpan humour and worth checking out. I watched Slaughterhouse Rulz last night, featuring Pegg/Frost. It was o...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

I enjoyed Yesterday. It's obviously good as Beatles homage, but also works as a humorous critique of the music industry and the obstacles it places in the way even of musicians who really do have some world class material to call upon. There's some laugh-out-loud comedy too. On the downside Ed Shee...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

I have just started watching Stranger things, from season one. Never bothered getting Netflix, so it's been a long time coming.

And loving it :)

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 198

Yes, I go straight to my fave magazines site for the issue now, it is impossible to buy over the counter in Christchurch New Zealand now. Sad. But retailers in NZ screw the public over anyway putting high retails on issues that are actually the older (3 issue previous) issue. So easier to buy onlin...

Re: Ebay is flooded with repros. Can anything be done?

Don't think there is much that can be done to police all of it unfortunately, it takes eBay watchers to be vigilante and report them when seen, but even then doubt eBay will care. Everything is about money, sad but true fact. I think the only thing that could possibly be done is stick buyer beware w...

Re: The most disappointed you've ever been in a release

I'm gonna to take a different angle and say the most disappointed I've been in a release in recent times is the PS classic mini console. From initial anticipation and pre ordering, to trepidation as Sony dragged the chain on the title list, to cancelling the preorder, then finding out what you'd exp...

Re: Mega Drive Mini

From what I've seen and heard, this unit looks one of the best, if not the best, of the mini consoles out thus far. My only thought was in regard to how often these games have been out in recent times due to the not so good At games machines, and the fantastic collections available for other console...
