Savestates are also useful for old games that used passwords instead of save memory. I'd want to kill myself if I had to go back to writing down passwords for Metroid, Megaman, and Simon's Quest...etc.

Getting back on topic. The Z80 era did result in many Spectrum/CPC assembly coders moving on to work on Gameboy titles in Britain. Now, this is a good response. Maybe that is what it is. Perhaps the games bare a solid similarity to some of the Spectrum's best due to the programmers and not the hard...

Don't forget the Young Ones. A Show that was getting big ratings in the US at the same time as in the UK (more or less) thanks to MTV showing it.

I kind of thought the same thing, but decided on the other way to better illustrate my point. Think of it as artistic license.

How NOT to market a Video Game System...

White people rapping is NEVER a good idea in any media, and especially not in the marketing of video games.

Was the Spectrum just a big Gameboy?

I know this is a weird topic, but bare with me on this one... An old issue of Retrogamer I have has this interesting write-up about the home versions of the original Robocop game and in it they make mention of the similarities between the Spectrum and Gameboy version and attribute it to similar hard...

I can't get the sound to work properly on my Mame version. But, it plays slick as always. Also one of the most accurate arcade ports ever put on the Atari 2600. In fact, here's a couple of treats for you guys... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmM2oDSJ--c http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0kWqjDUu7o&mo...

Eastenders and Dallas were pretty bad.
Someone made video games of those two evening soap operas?

Who, exactly, were they marketing those things to?

I understand that at the time, and that even accounts for some of the bizarre reviews. However, aside from technical achievement, I can't see how anyone would really like that game now . I still listen to the music of all three games occasionally, but the game itself is something I don't think I'll...

Most of the Konami ones and I love the SNES Battletoads as well. I'm glad someone mentioned Battletoads, I was gonna. But, my favorite has to be Double Dragon either in the arcade or (kind of surprisingly) on the NES. There is something oddly cartoony and funny about that one. Final Fight (any vers...

Is Sonic Rivals on the PSP any good? Been thinking of getting that. Is it a bit like Pac-Man World 3, except with (duh) Sonic instead of Paccers? Once you get into it it's really quite addictive. Indeed. Easily it's Sonic's best game in QUITE a long time. What kills me are all these game reviews sa...

The Famicom Micro

I found this very interesting... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVie6OH40sA It begs me to wonder why Nintendo didn't just sell the whole set-up and break into the Micro Computer Market instead of having to struggle to the point of TOTAL system re-design to break into the post Video Game crash market...

Robotnik/Eggman

I missed the Sonic Games on the Saturn and Dreamcast and to date they stand as some of the only Sonic Games that I haven't played. So, I'm more than a bit confused about the name change of Sonic's bad guy from Doctor Robotnik to Doctor Eggman. Was it ever explained in the games themselves? What was ...

As I mentioned in another thread, I'm going with the really awesome updated Knight Lore recently entered in the GP2X development competition.
