Interesting topic.

I say the true key to happiness is to be happy with yourself first and not care what others think. It takes a long time to master these disciplines, but once you do, you'll be so much better off.

NES Balloon Fight

I finally got a Wii and my Virtual console has been a buzzin'. That having been said, I've always wanted to play Balloon Fight on the NES, because I knew it was Joust under a different name. But, what I was very surprised to discover is that they tweaked it and made a BETTER Joust game. Very fun and...

Rally X is an exceptional game and always will be. So much so that Commodore basically stole it for a C64 launch title.

and Pac-Man, still being made by every homebrewer on the planet.

In America Ms. Pac-Man/Galaga combo machines still litter cities everywhere.

The 3DO

Another thread got me thinking of this... Did the 3DO stand a chance at all? Or was it just beyond ever really having any solid place in the marlet beyond its sort of FAD FMV stuff of the 90's? It was marketed horribly and the idea of making it some sort of console standard is just bizare, but what ...

I have never played the Wing Commander games, are they a lot like Tie Fighter, X-Wing, X-Wing Alliance? Very similar Though there was a massive improvement in the storyline to WC III and IV with the introduction of FMV , and branching storlines made for an interesting games. Some people love the FM...

Re: No Hope for Sonic?

Sonic the Hedgehog has had 2 really good solid games on the DS and the PSP. He has? I thought Sonic Rush absolutely dire. I thought Sonic Rush was very good! Apparently it was voted the best Sonic game ever. Now I don't think this myself, but I think it is still very good and Sonic Rush 2 is on the...

Sonic on the Wii is pretty good (once you get used to the control mechanism). It feels like a 2-D Sonic game on the speed run levels. I got my WII today and I love it. Sonic Rings was the deciding factor and I love it. ind you it is quite the work out if your used to being just a couch potato gamer...

No Hope for Sonic?

I do not own a current console, discounting my PSP and DS. But, no X-Box 360, No PS3, although a WII seems considerably likely in the near future. Now over the last year Sonic the Hedgehog has had 2 really good solid games on the DS and the PSP. But, seems to fail at almost every home console he end...

This is not a laughing matter. The threat of Goblins and Wizards is a reality in modern terrorism and should never be taken lightly. But, if we as a united people say vigilant and train our troops in the use of spell casting and state of the art weaponry such as catapults and crossbow technology, we...

Times were changing in late 1980's and as much as I loved my C64 it was starting to feel a bit dated. many new magazines had risen up in the states in response to Nintendo Power and these were starting to cover all sorts of things from the Sega Master System to the various early PC's and of course t...

How Retro is Retro?

I'm wondering where the line is drawn between retro and modern gaming? I mean certainly discounting the modern retro-style games covered by RG, how far back is the line? Some have suggested the original Playstation could now be counted. Except that makes the N64 and Saturn viable as well. I don't kn...

Funny you mentioned the Virtual Boy. One of Nintendo's TRULY epic failures. All that 3d immersion dedicated to some of the suckiest games EVER. Plus, you got to experience the whole thing in brain damaging BRIGHT RED! Plus the Goggles had that side effect where if you wore them too long they sucked ...

Pre-NES Famicom Commercials

Someone on Youtube was nice enough to compile a nice collection of Famicom commercials in pretty excellent quality. Including the original commercials for Super Mario Brothers, Rob the Robot, and the Light Gun games. The interesting thing about the light gun in japan is that it was designed to look ...

Savestates are also useful for old games that used passwords instead of save memory. I'd want to kill myself if I had to go back to writing down passwords for Metroid, Megaman, and Simon's Quest...etc. -Ray Then your not playing them properly... Half the fun is scrambling round trying to find a pen...
