Re: Console battle Q4 AMSTRAD GX4000 VS COMMODORE C64GS

But all the C64GS games were just brown and grey crap games weren't they? And they were 24.99 not 1.99 and there were few of them. Not one ofn them did anything a C64 couldn't so why buy one? The games were priced between £15-25 depending on the publisher. And Navy SEALS and Robocop 2 are definitel...

Re: Console battle Q4 AMSTRAD GX4000 VS COMMODORE C64GS

Has to be the C64GS here. It is utterly pointless, but the quality of C64 games available on cart mean the GX4000's limited library can't begin to compete. But all the C64GS games were just brown and grey crap games weren't they? And they were 24.99 not 1.99 and there were few of them. Not one ofn ...

Re: Bookazines / Specials

We've not had an Amstrad bookazine before. I seem to recall Darran saying that it wouldn't sell well, but maybe a a combined Amstrad/Spectrum edition would work. It would'nt sell to anyone outside CPC fans at all... so I made my own personal copy. I would rather have seperate Amstrad and Spectrum b...

Looks like a quick port of the C64 graphics. Had it been native on the Amstrad, it would have had better choice of colours and shading and more use of free placement of colours

Future Publishing started publishing with Amstrad Action.
This is like Amstrads takeover of Sinclair all over again.

Re: Safe to say, with hindsight that the CPC was the best

I never liked Gryzor on the Amstrad... the flick screen made me feel sick. On stills it looks great though. https://contrapedia.wordpress.com/contra-conversions-cpc/ "Gryzor for the Amstrad CPC is one of the earliest home versions of Contra (Gryzor, in particular). Licensed by Konami, this and a co...

Re: Five 8-bit Games You'd Still Play Today

All of mine are for the CPC. Fruit Machine (Amsoft) - | still love firing it up nowadays. Of course, anyone epileptic near me would likely need serious medical assistance whenever I get the jackpot... I thought i was the only person who liked that game. Played it loads. Fruit Machine started the ga...

Re: Worst quality computer/console hardware revision?

Anything produced by Sinclair, although cheap, they knew little about quality electronics. I am not saying that machines are a bad package, they just took shortcuts and bad design decisions that just didn't make sense. Much in the same way as many of the cheap unreliable Chinese products of today

Re: Which was really better - 64 or ZX?

For every Kung Fu Master there's a Chase HQ. On my Amstrad CPC Chase HQ is by most people considered being an excellent game, the same on Spectrum. Still, I prefer Kung Fu Master choosing between the two on the Amstrad. I find it much more playable. Kung Fu Master on the C64 is a great conversion i...

Re: Which was really better - 64 or ZX?

That Atari 8bit Bomb Jack looks good - looks very C64 though! and the music still isn't as good as the original C64 version.(imho).... BUT - the Atari one was done in 2008 so only fair to compare it to the new C64 version that is indeed better looking and sounding that that version.... ATARI A8 200...
