When I watched youtube-clips of Renegade this summer I noticed that the C64 version had very few enemy fighters. About half of what the Amstrad and Spectrum versions had. You should have added the coin-up to the poll as well. From the look and feel from the videoclips, the Amstrad CPC version wins h...

I still wonder if the other game you mentioned - Roland in Time is an original CPC game... BTW, did you know that 3D Grand Prix originated on the BBC? I recognised looking through an old issue of Your Computer about a year ago. It think it had a different name, a name I have forgotten.

The people have voted.. To conclude: "The c64 blocky mess gfx" looks at least as good as "The superb gfx from the Spectrum version" and the higher res. one colour at the time near mono Spectrum gfx compares well to multicolour lowres c64 gfx version. an alternative conclusion: the amount of C64 and ...

The CPC was a wonderful computer!
When the same thing happened in a BBC-thread, the excuse was that it was UK humour (sick)

The CPC version was made first and the C64 and Spectrum versions came a long year later. The C64 version got good reviews in CV+G just like the CPC version

Can anyone that have played BOTH the Amstrad CPC version and C64 version on real machines let us know what they think about how these versions compare?

I ended up voting for the Spectrum-version. Mono gfx can be ok, although I think it would have looked better with less colour - just black on top of the background colour. Green threes, blue men, man that look bad. When the extra colour isn't used for shading it actually make the game look worse

I do not know about Roland in Time, but most of the Roland games were converted from other platforms. Take a look at Fred on the Spectrum: http://i2.turboimagehost.com/t/373087_fred_screen.gif looks a lot like Roland on the Ropes on the CPC doesn't it? What were the launch prices of the CPC 464? I believe £249 for the greenscreen version and £349 for the colour one. Can anyone confirm this? BTW, in keeping in the spirit of this thread: Did you know that Frogger orginated on the CPC+ and that CPC+ motherboards were used in the early 1982 coinups?...

Confusing the Amiga and the Atari ST are we? The Amiga do NOT have an AY sound chip. If I wanted to tell the world how great my CPC is, the AY wouldn't be on my brag-list...
