Pinball Dreams Amstrad CPC finally released
Quality capture from a real Amstrad CRT screen running Pinball Dreams. It looks lovely, way better than on an emulator. This really is Atari ST quality on the humble Amstrad CPC https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCA6psxb-7U&t Chinnyvision review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOUXfN8_hJ4 Americans tr...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 199
Can't bring myself to read the Amstrad Action article. It's probably very good but although I'll read about an Amstrad game, the mag holds no interest. Think about it this way, would you be reading Retro Gamer without Amstrad Action? If you assume that Imagine Publishing was the only potential buye...

Re: Try doing this on a Commodore, Amstrad or Spectrum,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3oc_nCbZ4oo Yeah, I know it's bolloxs but it was done by a lone, very amateur hobbyist using cheap software. We can do the lone, amateur hobbyist part including cheap software. But the only machine of the 3 that can do the colour is the Amstrad and the only machine t...

Re: New highly impressive CPC game
Still, it's early days yet and I'd suspect that much is subject to change. Given the Pinball Dreams port was first previewed in 2016, I wouldn't be expecting this one to drop for a couple more years yet. Would love to see Pinball Dreams released. But will it happend? The game is long time finished ...

Re: What if Amstrad hadn't bought the Spectrum name
Other than making gaming PCs, it's hard to see them having much impact on the 16-bit gaming market. They did that eventually anyway, although after the disaster of the PC2000 series they were never going to be particularly relevant again. On the whole, they always gave the impression of a company t...

Re: Amstrad, Spectrum or C64. What is the worst and best hardware for gaming?
Are the C64 and Vic 20 Basics made by Microsoft? I have understood that Simon's Basic on the C64 is very good. Was it cartridge-based? How much free Ram did it have?

What if Amstrad hadn't bought the Spectrum name
The Amstrad CPC got a lot of ports from the Spectrum. Some good, some bad, some awful and some were even great. If the machine had got the same support from developers that the C64 and Spectrum got, the amount of good and great games would have been much higher. The Amstrad CPC is capable of games l...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 195
Lots of digital and Overseas subscribers complains on Facebook they never got the stickers. The stickers arrived through subscription to Norway. I believe the problem for many here is that the stickers are not for the C64 or Spectrum. I am a minority and would have loved Amstrad stickers, but C64 o...

Re: Amstrad, Spectrum or C64. What is the worst and best hardware for gaming?
Amstrad CPC, hard to code for, but can do well in the right hands It's not hard to code for, the Oliver Twins for example loved to programme on it as their lead platform ('Dizzy', 'Grand Prix Sim' etc). They developed on the Amstrad CPC but for the specification of the ZX Spectrum so in my opinion ...

Amstrad, Spectrum or C64. What is the worst and best hardware for gaming?
This is not a question about the games released, but a question about what is possible to do with the different hardware. The C64 is great for music, smooth scrolling and sprites. Very good within the limits of the hardware. The ZX Spectrum, balanced lowspec machine Amstrad CPC, hard to code for, bu...

Re: Paid for 'free gifts'
To be fair if there was an Amstrad action pamphlet I’ll join Senser in moaning about what a waste of money that’ll be :) But wasn't the Amstrad just an upgraded Spectrum with crappy scrolling? Have you seen the Batman demo for the Amstrad CPC? https://youtube.com/watch?v=QadPMxfQxS4 The Amstrad CPC...
