Re: Which was really better - 64 or ZX?
You do have to wonder how this is still an argument though, there was one game which defined 80s 8-bit gaming. It sat in the charts for, well basically forever. And that game was Robocop. As to the Atari 8-bits.... *tumbleweed blows past... Please tell me more about the Atari 8-bit version.

Re: A machine/s you just couldnt feel the love for?
I don't feel the love for the ZX, I more pity it. Even more so for the 128K models and how they were paraded around as upgrades. Why do you 'pity' it ? Are you an upset Amstrad fan ? ;) Back in the early 80's it was huge to go from 48k to 128k. Granted some games were 'lazy' and just added music to...

Re: Yie Ar Kung Fu
I remember we played it a lot, but I can't remember if it was the C64 or Spectrum version we played most, since we played both. I know it wasn't the CPC version that runs at half the speed of the others. Try to PLAY both the C64 and Amstrad version. Then come back and tell us which versions speed g...

Re: Yie Ar Kung Fu
This is one of the games where the Amstrad CPC version is the best. Such a lovely game. The only versions to beat it are on modern machines that are running the game in emulation. It's interesting to hear such an early game that speaks - Chinese! Che che You can find a video of all the versions here...

Re: Safe to say, with hindsight that the CPC was the best
With the title you've got for this thread i doubt you'll get many neutral fans agreeing. Again the Amstrad was a very good machine, just for the majority in the UK it arrived a fraction too late, people were already dipping their toes into this new 'computer' stuff and buying their kids a C64 or Sp...

Re: Safe to say, with hindsight that the CPC was the best
Those colours are plain horrible. They'd look nicer on the green monitor! When I got my Dreamcast 15 years ago, I felt like coming home, the same good shiny saturated colours. They shine even more on a real monitor, we all had RGB monitors. The composite sh it used on the C64 and Spectrum was just ...

Re: Safe to say, with hindsight that the CPC was the best
On the vector graphics front, you forgot Space Harrier !      There will always be good and bad ports. But in my opinion the CPC has more good arcade ports than the C64 and ZX Spectrum That's my recollection too. Although I'd have killed to have the C64 version of Bu...

Re: Safe to say, with hindsight that the CPC was the best
Head Over Heels is a good example. It uses high resolution comparable to the Speccy version, runs at a decent speed like the Speccy version (unlike the C64 which is slow), but has more colour without sacrificing detail. Don't know about sound, but on the other evidence, CPC wins. Interestingly the ...

Is this a joke? The game isn´t anything special, but not very bad eitherslacey1070 wrote: The best game on the Amstrad was Steve Davis snooker... spent way too long playing that at work.

Spectrum: sales numbers for the different models
The Spectrum is loved by many on this forum. Can anyone give sales estimates for the different Spectrum models?

Re: Anyone still refusing to play a rival system from childh
Bomb Jack on the C64 is criticised because it plays just wrong. You cannot collect the bombs in order and get a 50 000 bonus Amazing how nostalgia overcomes all of these issues. The C64 version of Bomb Jack is the one I grew up with and absolutely adored. I occasionally play it today via emulators ...
