Re: From the forum question Issue 63

The handheld "Time Out" LCD game Fireman, Fireman I've only had a couple of these old LCD ones, and nothing more advanced, so that wins. It's also the first one I got. http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s354/necronom426/TimeOut-FiremanFireman.jpg I loved the TimeOut games. Particularly, TossUp: htt...

Re: From the forum question Issue 63

I can tell you what my least favourite is. DS Lite. Ever since that dastardly addictive retina burner came out I've been slowly going blind. And now there appears to be a battle between Nintendo and Sony to see who can make the brightest screen. Us ageing gamers won't be able to take much more of i...

Re: The Beatles: Rock Band

Yay. The Second most overrated band ever, after Queen, are getting a rock band all to themselves. Now people can mime to Ringo's bad drumming, soft guitars and how big an arse Paul McCartney is while singing insipid lyrics and conveniantly skipping over all the harsher ones because they weren't inc...

Re: Platform Games

Ignore the people recommending Super Mario 1, 2 & 3 on the NES. Get Super Mario All-Stars on the SNES instead. Same gameplay as the NES versions of the games but with significantly improved graphics and you can save your progress. Also includes the Japanese version of Super Mario 2 (called "Lost Lev...

Re: Does the GTA series really deserve an 18+/mature rating?

but many kids are exposed to much worse in films like Saw or Halloween etc. the link between violent games and kids actions is still speculative at best. Not sure I follow your logic. Saw & Halloween are both R-rated in the US, which means kids under 17 aren't supposed to see them without a parent....

My wife is a good one for this when I'm playing Guitar Hero. I'm cruising along and miss a note - she very helpfully will say "You missed a note". NO SH*T.

Yeah, 120 pounds for that is quite high. Those run $50 in the US - about a third of that auction.

No PS2 version? BOOOO.

My nephew will love this.

Funny enough, I'm actually listening to the Beatles on my headphones as I type this - and I hardly ever listen to them.

Re: Game Soundtracks that you found emotionally moving

Lemme throw in another vote for Shenmue. I am a big fan of video game music in general, orchestral game music in particular, and Shenmue's soundtrack is the best I've ever heard. The Orchestral version, that is. It's incredibly moving, with soaring highs, tremendous lows, and picturesque music throu...

Nights is the better of the bunch.
I agree that there are no standouts in the bunch - but voted for Donkey Kong.

Re: Poll: Favourite Retro Gamer cover - Imagine era (round 2)

Not a weak cover in the bunch. Yes, most of them are just photograph covers but they are very well-done. I ended up voting for the Dreamcast cover though it was a really tough choice over Street Fighter, the SNES, and Sonic. Really, all excellent covers. In the end, I voted for the Dreamcast one bec...

Re: Poll: Favourite Retro Gamer cover - Imagine era (round 4)

I actually kinda like the Star Wars one though I voted for Gauntlet. Was a toss-up between that one, Galaxian, and Mario.

If I had to vote for worst, it would be the Manic Miner cover. Really, really bad, easily one of the three worst covers in the history of the mag.

Re: The New Look Forum

Gotta say, I hate the new look. I actually went back into my bookmarks and re-clicked the Retro Gamer site link - was sure I was in the wrong place to begin with. The gray is just awful. It's completely washed out and, quite frankly, amateurish. It's not even bland in a creative kind of way - it's n...
