Re: Graphics whorery. Wasting my money.

My Graphics Whoreism is restricted to 3D, and it's expectations limited to the platform it's on. I know what you mean about being limited to the platform in question. It's funny how quickly you can get visually acclimatised to a particular system. One day I find myself playing PSP and thinking 'Oh ...

Re: Graphics whorery. Wasting my money.

Your argument is much what I said in my original post, dood. Well that would be because I largely agree with your original post. My comments about text adventures weren't really directed at any specific person in this thread, btw - just general thoughts. we are saying text adventures don't need gra...

Re: Graphics whorery. Wasting my money.

A self-professed graphicswhore who doesn't notice low framerates, doesn't notice tearing, and who shied away from Okami because of its looks? I regard myself as someone with a bit of thing for graphical eyecandy, and it was exactly Okami's style that drew me to it. Maybe your graphics-whoreiness exp...

Re: Underrated Xbox games

Grabbed by the ghoulies GbtG was definitely underrated. I think it suffered from some kind of backlash against MS buying Rare. I found it to be a lot fun. I loved the way it took a fairly simple game mechanic/control method and kept it fresh by introducing different goals and challenges as you prog...

Re: Is it just me or are posts getting fewer?

IIs it me or do people seem to talk loads about collecting at the moment? It seems to me that when I joined - about a year and a half ago - there were more discussions about computer and console capabilities. Yeah, I wondered that too. Perhaps what's needed is a revival of the slumbering 8-bit comp...

Damn, I'm only getting the usual imagineshop ad.

But holy crap! at the number of huge sigs all over this forums nowadays! Browsing a thread is like taking a drive down billboard highway!

*adblock back on*

Ah, that's better. *grumpy old man mutters to consolingly himself*

Re: WinVice

Yep, I just tried The Great Escape and DT's Decathlon, and they both worked fine using keyset A set to joy port 1. By the way, Decathlon defaults to 1p mode, so don't press f1 unless you want 2p mode. Also how do you swap disks/tapes? Somebody probably already answered this, but you just go to FILE ...

Re: WinVice

The version from gamebase64? When it shows the title-screen it actually hasn't finished loading the game, and as it needs true drive emulation on, the loading takes a little while. If you either wait a while, or go into warp mode to speed up the loading (alt+w toggles warp on/off), you'll find it th...

Re: WinVice

MattyC64c, bear in mind that some cracker intros require you to select an option with the cursor, so if you have the joystick mapped to the cursor keys you won't be able to select the relevant options as the Joystick mapping takes priority. And yeah, ESC = Run/Stop, which is what you need to press t...

Re: Who remembers ST Fire & Ice?

I'm generally not a fan of platformers, but I did have some fun with this one on the Amiga.

The shot above is from the Amiga version, btw.

Re: PSP & Emulators

Yep, the ones with two folders (ie: with a 2nd folder with a % sign at the end) would be ones written for 1.5 FW, and so need to go in the GAME150 folder. The others can go in GAME or GAME4XX. Also, here's a tip for any PSP owners who might not be aware of it: There's an excellent plugin called HUD ...

Would that be Vs. from THQ? versus.jpg (29.53 KiB) Viewed 55 times I think you might be right ;) As if Mike would make such a schoolboy error. You guys got fooled by the oldest trick in the screenshot challenge book. ;) It's Fighter Maker 2 on the PS2. But I don't have a screenie ready, so we might...

Re: PSP & Emulators

Hi. Sorry about the double post, and sorry for being noob again, but no matter what I do, I can't seem to get either Picodrive or DGen to work on my PSP. It either says it's corrupt, or that it can't load. Help please? I've just found out that no emulator I put on it (apart from NesterJ and snes9xT...
