Re: Am I mental?

I think its normal, I battle with myself most days not to buy things I don't need. If you can afford it and your wife and kids have what they need then why not treat yourself from time to time! I second the Bose thing, I got some Bose cubes (AM 5) about 12 or so years ago and I still love them. They...

Re: Your thoughts on an 'event attendee' directory at events

T shirts? I keep meaning to get one but never get round to it. Maybe the events could arrange for one of the T companies to do a shirt with the event logo or something and let us pick a name for the back. It'd need to be well in advance and at our cost, ordered individually via the website or somet...

Re: Your thoughts on an 'event attendee' directory at events

+1 on name badges, I go to all these events (eurocon, retro reunited, byte back, r3play) and nobody knows who I am but I see all the same faces at every event. However I do feel that the name badge should be split in to two showing real name and forum name as it feels stupid (in most cases) going up...

Re: What was the first gig you ever went to?

Jean Michel Jarre - Chronologie, Manahcester 1993, I would have been 12 at the time.

I remember walking to the old Man City stadium with my dad and there were people everywhere just sat in the street waiting for it to start.

Re: R3PLAY 'The Arcade, Retro & Video Gaming Expo' - Blackpo

Was there from around 15:00 till 18:30 yesterday. Had a good time just walking round watching people play stuff. Had a go on the pinball as you don't often get the chance these days. The room was good for this event but that hotel is fairly horrible. Didn't really speak to anyone other than a mate o...

Re: R3PLAY 'The Arcade, Retro & Video Gaming Expo' - Blackpo

Still in bed at home trying to decide if I should just jump in the car down to blackpool, about 1 hour journey, unsure what the parking situation will be though. Then can only have one drink.. Or 10 minute walk to the bus stop, 20 minute bus journey to the train station, then 50 minute train ride to...

Re: Eurocon 2010 - September 3-5

Only went for the Saturday afternoon and then proceeded to get a little bit drunk. I'm having a difficult time at work so really needed to have a good drink and relax. Only spoke with a few people and then tried to avoid drunken conversion later so as not to make a censored of myself :) Great place,...

Re: Real Ale Drinkers or Lagerboys?

I love ales, got quite a selection in stock at the moment. Thinking of opening a bottle of Kwak tonigh (not exactly an 'ale' but I put them in the same pigeon hole).

I'm more of a whisky man myself, currently have around 14 single malts on the go, with another 4 unopened.

I've tried their tactical nuclear penguin here;

Great bar to visit if you live in the manhcester area. I've spent a few happy afternoons in there :)

Personally I find what they do quite interesting to read about but I'd much rather spend my money on whisky.

Re: Unemployment Benefits

I left education with a degree in design when I was 23, I carried on with my part time job stacking shelves at Asda whilst trying to find a job in design for around 6 months. Then a friend rescued me and got me a part time job working at events for a tobacco company, it was a great job but work drie...
