Re: Derren Brown attempts to predict Wednesday's lottery numbers

Brown once flipped a coin ten times and got ten heads - but it took 9 solid hours of filming to succesfully catch that combination, proving that if you do it enough, you will evantually get a run like that. I suspect this will be something similar.

Re: The 8-bit Salamander comparison

I tried the MSX version out last night and it's all great when it's just stars in the background - get to the tunnels and it all goes a bit Pete Tong. I found that every screen update my eyes involuntarily flickered to the right of the screen, distracted by the ugly scrolling. Reminiscent of the scr...

TBH, I went for a Lucky Dip to fill some names in then completely forgot about it until now! Probably full of people who've retired or transfered abroad!

Re: The Beatles

Despite being an old dinosaur musically-speaking who only listens to guitar-based rock from Robert Johnson onwards and loses interest much after Grunge, there are two bands I just never took to that I always feel I should - The Beatles and Pink Floyd. I appreciate The Beatles' songs but not their mu...

Re: Today

DHL sound like ParcelFarce. I've declined to bid on stuff I wanted on Ebay because the seller was insisting on sending it ParcelFarce. I'd tell you all the problems I've had with Parcelfarce (who happen to have a success rate of precisely 0% when delivering to my house) but frankly my blood pressure...

Re: Raystorm HD

In the meantime you can play Raystorm on Taito Legends 2 but annoyingly only on the PS2 version - the XBox gets Layer Section instead.

I love the way the radio commentator has a 78 of applause cued up to play when Germany score and nobody claps. :)

3D Starstrike on Speccy - IWANTTOCHEAT turns on invulnerability, BORING turns it off.

That was the first cheat code I ever heard of and I had a job to believe it until I tried it!

So what was the first? Does anybody know? Is there a good investigative journalism piece for RG here?

Re: What do REAL people think of you?

I'm a wargamer and slotcar racer and classic car buff as well as a retrogamer, and I'd say those facets of my geeky interests are more visible to others than my gaming. Geeky people can go two ways I suppose - some bury themselves in a geeky interest and use it to keep the frightening real world at ...

Re: Underrated Xbox games

I went off on a massive wild goose chase with GbtG - early on you can destroy a bookcase which spills out DVD-case sized boxes with lime green spines, so clearly supposed to be XBox games. Thing is though the covers are from Atic Atac ! So of course I immediately convinced myself that this was a hin...

Re: Linux

I went from Vista Home Edition to dual-booting Ubuntu and Vista. Very easy job, google for online instructions but basically Vista has a partitioning tool that will create and blank an area of the disc as a partition awaiting an OS and the Ubuntu disc will find that, confirm you want Ubuntu here and...

Re: Things you didn't know about

I didn't know the Saturn had internal memory and when I bought one from Crack Convertors I asked the sales assistant (or pawnbroker as he would have been called in an earlier age...) where the memory card was. Also back in the mid 80s I thought that "hard discs" were 3.5" discs since they had a hard...
