Re: The Beatles

Due to Oasis claiming to have been influenced by the beatles, their fans are "influenced" to like the Beatles. They are completely different. Glad to see I'm not the only one that thinks this! I've long noticed this dischord between what Oasis said was important to them and what sounded like it was...

Re: The Beatles

I don't feel checkmated at all (I was logging on in under to remove what I posted before, thinking better of it but obviously time and events have overtaken me and it would be unfair to do so as people have replied). Your comment sounds a little smug, a sort of "hey I've won an argument on the inter...

Re: The Beatles

Suit yourself gentlemen - I thought it was an interesting thread of conversation but clearly I've come up against people who aren't interested in listening and can't grasp the concept that the untouchable holiest-of-holies might not be all that important to everyone. I can't see the point of continu...

Re: The Beatles

Cobblers? Nice, thoughtful answer there thanks for helping the debate. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, but frankly I find The Beatles to be something of the Emperor's New Clothes. Everybody says they are great, everybody feels obliged to buy the records because a record collection is perce...

Re: The Beatles

To take one of the bands you mentioned - are you seriously saying to me that you think the Doors' (a band I'm a huge fan of) music, for example, has more range than The Beatles? What do you mean by range? Musical style range or age range of fans? (I suspect you might mean the former but you quote s...

Re: Would this be a difficult job?

Having worked in IT all my post-uni life I have to say that qualifications have never seemed important - very far from the quote above that "Qualifications are everything". I find that claim baffling. Even the vocational certificates (MicroSoft etc.) always seemed to be regarded with a certain amoun...

Re: Would this be a difficult job?

A lot depends upon what you inherit. If the last guy in the chair was a mess it could be a nightmare, if he was super-efficient you could find you die of boredom. In my experience a lot of work in those positions is stuff that could be fixed but is left hanging around so that techies always have a n...

Re: The Beatles

I believe that Rock Band Beatles, discussions about getting on iTunes and an impending marketing push on all their albums is a belated admission that the fab four just aren't relevant these days and much of that is down to the way their legacy has been handled. Their music never turns up on compilat...

 Oops - just reading back my post I realised it isn't clear - it's a TV not a PC monitor, sorry. I did look for a degauss option but not on this TV (do they even have them? I've only seen them on PC/Mac monitors)

I've heard you still have outside toilets too
It's easier for cleaning up the horse mess when you don't have to carry the shovel indoors and up the stairs. Far more hygienic.

Re: Is my CRT knackered?

That pic's through the SCART socket through a composite two plugs into SCART plug type arrangement but the same thing happens with the aerial, internal menu, XBox (where I first noticed it), 360 and that SMS TV Boy. It won't be fine tuning as the feed from the SCART socket is just on the "AV" channe...

Is my CRT knackered?

It started doing this over the weekend; http://i403.photobucket.com/albums/pp113/CoopdevilUK/CRTtrauma.jpg Anything that contrasts against surrounding colours now shadows to the right-hand side. I've tried it without the RF lead plugged in, the living room lights off, the cable modem switched off, t...

I thought it might be D/Generation on a 16-bit but Google Images tells me I'm wrong.
