Re: Virtual Pinball

I asked the people selling the one I linked, and they said they couldn't do VP tables "for legal reasons", even though they were able to supply the units with 400+ FP tables... VPX uses the MAME license, which means you're not supposed to ship it pre-installed with hardware. Nobody cares too much a...

Re: Virtual Pinball

Good luck getting your hands on a working second-hand Switch at the moment. Still, if you've already got one, there are options for docks and most of the pinball games I've seen on it will work in vertical orientation. If you want a big screen, have a look at this cardboard beauty: https://imgur.com...

Re: Virtual Pinball

Failing that, there's always Pinball Fantasies on the Amiga. :D Im more Space Cadet Well you could build one that just emulates console/computer Pinball games, would be a lot cheaper. Not as cool You could probably do that with a Windows Atom tablet, and a suitable dock. Mind you, there don't seem ...

Re: Virtual Pinball

Yup, it cant run on a cheap-o PC, even if the prices of such a thing seem to be dropping. I was very surprised when they told me Visual Pinball was much more resource-greedy than Future Pinball, because many years ago when I first got into pinball emulation the reverse was true. But I didn't really...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Speaking of Atic Atac, I just watched a speedrun of it in 4:40.

Under ten minutes is pretty good going though. The random elements don't always line up to let you have a fast run.

Re: cani play all 48kzx spectrum games on a +2A

You can play a tap or tzx file as audio, to be loaded into a computer, with most emulators. It's way more reliable than a thirty-odd year old cassette tape too.

Still, divMME Future is the way to go if you're using the original hardware on a regular basis.

Re: cani play all 48kzx spectrum games on a +2A

Thanks to the diligent work of the Spectrum community, particularly Alessandro Grusso, there are no longer any known 48K games that cannot be made to work on a +2A or 3+. First, have a check to see if it's on this list: https://www.alessandrogrussu.it/plus2A-en.html If not, it should work and 48K BA...

Re: The New gen thread PS5/XBOXsX (feat PONG)

A race between a Wifi router and a air purifier The winner is the one we will want to play games on 20 years from now. I will wait. But will it be anything to pick up 20 years from now? Will the games be available? Online servers all gone? Will emulation of the new old censored be the only thing av...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

No problem. There seems to be a new one of these Chinese consoles out every month but most of them have one hideous flaw, be it the build quality, the ergonomics, or in notable one case (the RK2020) they were caught pirating someone else's firmware and had to remove it from future shipments. However...

In all honesty, I'd forgotten about that and was thinking of Amstrad's Mega PC with the MegaDrive in it.
Meanwhile I was thinking about the Amstrad plus machines with "the GX4000 in it"...
The difference is that the CPC+ machines could actually use the extra hardware. :D

Re: Displaying C64c on a VGA monitor

Have you actually tried one of those on a C64? Some of the reviews don't sound very positive: "Cheap chinese crap. Yes it converts to vga, but there is no color. I thought my c64 was bad until I read the reviews" "I bought this because of the claims that it would allow the user to connect older comp...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

I've not had a go on the RG350M but I've used the earlier RG350 and it's a decent bit of kit. If you've ever seen a GCW Zero, that's also basically the same hardware. It's just been re-engineered to take away most of that machine's rough edges. Another almost identical machine is the PocketGo 2, so ...

Re: Displaying C64c on a VGA monitor

As well as the RF output and the S-Video through the monitor port, there's a third option that's to use the composite output that's also on the monitor port. The picture isn't as good as the S-Video one, but it's considerably better than the RF and most modern TVs still have at least one input for i...

Re: Stunning new Amstrad CPC racing game

In all honesty, I'd forgotten about that and was thinking of Amstrad's Mega PC with the MegaDrive in it. The X1 Twin is a very odd beast though, especially when you consider that NEC and Sharp were major competitors in the Japanese computer market. It'd be the equivalent of Commodore going to Atari,...
