Re: What is the most underrated console...
Yeah, I'd agree with that. The epic Saturn thread we had on here a while ago showed that a lot of people that dismiss it tend to do so out of stubbonness and not acually knowing what the machine has to offer, going as far as to disqualify most of its best games for being 2D/Import only. It should b...

Re: Micro$haft at it again
Bill Gates stepped down as Microsoft CEO in 2000 and stopped working full time for them last year. The man who's been running the show for most of the past decade is Steve Ballmer and that's where any complaints should be directed. Anyway, let's not forget that Microsoft is selling the 360 at far be...

Re: Good 2-player games on the Wii?
Super Smash Brothers Brawl is worth a mention; it's probably the most hardcore two player game on the machine.
Most of my best multiplayer moments on the Wii have been with Wii Sports/Resort (note that you'll need two Motion Plus units for the latter) and assorted daft party games though.

Re: Emulation just got more legal!
Yeah, it all looks a bit wrong to me. Surely, if you just want to play on an emulator, the original physical media is just dead weight when all you need to be carrying around is the ROM image. I really can't see this catching on.

Re: School Computers
In primary school there were no computers at all; then again that was the 70s. In secondary school, we were early adopters with some Tandy TRS-80s, a trio of ZX81s and only later did BBC Model Bs start to predominate. We won a couple of Commodore machines, a C16 and a C64, in competitions but they w...

Re: Escape From New York
Escape From New York was really good at the time but I don't think it's aged well at all. It's all just a bit too cheap-looking, overacted and all Snake's antihero cliches really grate on me now. The Thing, on the other hand, seems just to get better with age. I just can't believe how such a perfec...

Re: Games you physically destroyed
Heh. Well, this the home of all the nutty (er... I mean dedicated) collectors of retro systems. What did you expect? Seriously, don't sweat it. Even if you'd kept all three cartridges intact, complete with packaging, they'd probably net you no more than about $40 going by current eBay prices. ...

Re: Games you physically destroyed
I've chucked out a fair number of old PC/DOS games on floppy disc or CD over the years. It was mostly either corrupted media or shovelware of no resale value though. I wouldn't dream of smashing up a game that still worked and I, or someone else on my behalf, had paid good money for; certainly not w...

Re: CGA/VGA/EGA games
Microsoft Flight Simulator would be a good one. Version 1 is monochrome, 2 is CGA, 3 is EGA, 4 is VGA, etc.

Re: What is the most underrated console...
I don't think anyone seriously criticizes the PSP because it lacks high quality games. The most common criticisms are that it's ergonomically poor compared to the DS (which in turn is technically poor compared to the PSP), and that a lot of promising looking games for it turned out to be virtually u...

Re: Big Trouble In Little China.
Huge Carpenter Fan. I even think Escape from LA is a good film! Ghost of Mars sucked donkey Balls though. Big Trouble..... is great fun. I wonder where I could buy a "six demon bag" from? I'd take Ghosts of Mars over Escape from LA, myself. Then again both of them are from the arse end of his back ...

Re: What is the most underrated console...
I'd go for the Magnavox Odyssey and the Fairchild Channel F. They're two of the most influential machines ever made in that they introduced the ideas of the games console and the ROM cartridge respectively. Few of the games for either would do much for modern gamers, but they get very little interes...
