Re: Does your blood boil when non-gamers discuss video games?

So where does this leave the likes of SingStar and Lips? You have to face it, Sigma, you have no argument here. Maybe on 360 forums or whatever, but not here. Common sense exists here. Those would represent Microsofts attempt at trying to draw some of the new super casual gaming market away from th...

Re: Does your blood boil when non-gamers discuss video games?

I'm not even sure if something like Animal Crossing qualifies as a game, and that was actually billed as the big hitter for the "core" at last years E3. Of course Animal Crossing is a game. It's basically just a cuter take on The Sims which, incidentally, just happens to be the biggest selling PC g...

You list them then; we'll write them off for you.

Re: Does your blood boil when non-gamers discuss video games?

i dont think Wii Fit is a video game either but i wont lose sleep over it if people think it is. Not bothered one bit, it helps shift a ton of Wii's which will mean more 'Wii Fit games' but also many more other Wii games as the system sells so many. I hated Pokemon with a passion on the gameboy but...

I'd say that it gets a bashing precisely because of those reasons. Even its most vehement critics tend to agree that it does play quite nicely though.

Re: Does your blood boil when non-gamers discuss video games?

Cant see it myself. Ill believe it when I go into HMV and I have to ask for Xbox 360 games "under the counter" like some dodgy perv trying to buy some snuff porn. It's slowly going that way, we have to go right to the back of the shop for the more "hardcore material" now. Like what? Japanese Hentai...

Re: Does your blood boil when non-gamers discuss video games?

Its like some people want to keep the gaming scene 'underground' ! (Which they just cant as gaming is just hugeeeee) If anything (real) gaming is being driven deeper underground than ever before. Actually, i've just found something that does make my blood boil just a little... terms like "real gami...

Re: Graphics capabilities and home conversions.

I can't say I've noticed much CPC hate on this thread either. With a few notable exceptions, I'd think that most of the people who understand the technical details of the machines on here would be above that sort of thing. From where I stand, the machine's got at least as well balanced a design as a...

Re: Graphics capabilities and home conversions.

I'd imagine that it could be something of a difficult read in comparison to most RG articles, but good journalism isn't just about giving the readers what they ask for; they need to be challenged too occasionally.

Re: quintessential spectrum and cpc action games

Yeah! I'm familiar with the hardware in both (as I own both machines) ..... saying that, I would still say that the Amiga is better. Yeah, certainly. As far as gaming goes the ST hardware capabilities are pretty much a subset of the Amiga's; the only reason a game would be better on the former woul...

Re: quintessential spectrum and cpc action games

As for the ST, I think you'll be disappointed here. Almost all the ST games that I've played are equally as good on the Amiga if not better. That's because the Amiga hardware is sufficiently similar to run straight ports of ST games without much effort; practically any ST game could be converted to...

I quite like the look of the PS3; it's just the sheer bulk of it that I object to.

Re: Opinion of the Halo Series?

The Halo games aren't crap, but they're not really any better than some of the FPS games you can download for free for the PC, at least when it comes to the multi-player online modes, and that rather negates their appeal for me.

Oh, and definitely give me an optical mouse over a joypad any day.

I like them both, but I'd give Quazatron the edge. As well as the obvious isometric aspect it also gave you the opportunity to pick and choose which equipment to plunder rather than just take over a robot entirely, which was a nice touch. Magnetron could have offered the best of both worlds, but sad...

I'll go with: 1. 3D Monster Maze (ZX81, 1982) - Yeah, it's easy to look at it and laugh these days, but that was a pretty good 3D effect for the time and the animation on the T Rex as it came up and chomped you was pretty good too. I suppose the main thing though was that it played so fast when ever...
