If you are buying a hand held for playing emulators on then it's got to be a gp32 at the moment and eventually a gp2x No other handheld makes it so easy to run emulators on, it will run: spectrum, c64, atari st, mega drive, snes, doom, gb, gbc, hexen, scumm (monkey island etc), mame (0.84) plus load...

It would only need to be 1-2 pages a month

There seems to be plenty of fans for these genres, but way too much focus in retrogamer to more arcade style games

discuss .....

what is the joystick like - I heard there was an issue with it's dead zone

Also I heard the head phone socket is easily broken

I have a gp32 and I'm very tempted to get a gp2x - I'm looking forward to a playable ps1 to play ff7 on, and also a playable exult (ultima 7)

let us know how you get on

yep I tend to agree the 1st probably is the best (a c64 breadbin by the way, Christmas 84') I've also got very fond memories of my 1st PC (a 486 that I bought with my 1st two proper pay packets in 1992, 16mhz and a whopping 16mb ram). Great memories of playing Ultima VII on it (once I had spent 3 ho...

yep, I'll third the call for a GP32 (or a GP2X if you want to wait for more emulators to be come available incl. ps1) I have had a gp32 for a couple of years now - great little handheld that'll play anything up to and including an Atari ST. As for setting it up, it's not completely obvious to start ...

Probably between RPG, turn based war/strategy games, and graphic adventures (although I like all genres). I think with all the strategy / rpg / adventure fans we should really have a dedicated section in the mag. It mostly seems to focus on the arcade style games. I wish someone would remake Sorcere...

I play scumm on my pda - pure class. What a shame they killed off the genre. Why does everything have to be 3D these days

Okay I have a few ... FFVII (pc) - Finally defeating sepiroth (spelling), after months of playing Last Ninja (c64) - I remember playing it for the 1st time while on holiday in a caravan with my parents. I had persuaded them to let me take my c64 with me so I could "test" any games I bought to see if...
