Re: Android game recommendations

That tablet any good? I've been eyeing that one up myself but thought the controller add on looked a bit cheap. Always good to get a users opinion though as i'm also tempted to get a Kindle HDX after trying out my son's. So much choice when it comes to tablets its hard to make a decision but physic...

Re: Android game recommendations

I got a wikipad (android tablet with gaming controls) for christmas, and I'm loving playing all the emulators on it. As for recent Android releases; 80 days, banner saga and game of thrones are all excellent

Re: Sinclair ZX Spectrum Vega - Indiegogo campaign

Mmm seems a bit expensive at £100. Looks lovely, but I'm not sure about that dpad, plus what if you're playing a game that requires text input - there will need to be an on screen keyboard.

I would really like this to succeed, but don't think it will - plus I would gone with KS instead

Cinemaware are remaking Rocket Ranger

I see Cinemaware are trying to get funding to make a new Rocket Ranger game via KS https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/850516062/rocket-ranger-reloaded although they're struggling at the moment at just over a third of their $90000 goal. Was a big fan back in the day with my favs being DOTC, It came...

Re: Thimbleweed Park - New adventure game by Ron Gilbert

Yep, I agree about the graphics - DOTT, Monkey Island 2 & Fate of Atlantis were the high point for scumm adventures. I'm happy with the verb interface even if we lose some screen real estate. Hope the tunes will be chip tunes.

Re: Matt Gray Reformation Kickstarter (last ninja)

I've pledged for quite a few projects lately; Signed up to Matt's one (went for the Ltd edition disk drive one) backed the Rocket Ranger remake The Amiga and c64 visual book The Lone Wolf board game (just to get the Gary Chalk art work book) And will sign up for the Ron Gilbert retro pixel art graph...

Re: From the forum issue 133 - Favourite turn-based strategy

mmm so many to choose from (and I'll include tb wargames as they're basically the same genre). My 4 favs are Lords of Midnight, Fire Emblem, Fantasy General, but I'm going to go for a game probably nobody else has played or heard of - called "Sorcerer Lord" - circa 1987, c64 by pss (also out on the ...

Re: Bluetooth Spectrum Keyboard

This is all really saddening :-( !!!! I was hanging on and not pledging due to me not being able to justify spending £50 on another bluetooth keyboard - I probably would have pledged in the end though - as even though I was a c64 owner, the 48k design was iconic :-) With all the news that has come t...

Retro point and click adventure needs some kickstarter love

I know kickstarter can polarise opinion a wee bit ;-) - but there's a cool looking retro (8-bit graphics) point and click adventure that needs some help getting to it's small $12k goal. it's been built in Unity - so will be coming out on most platforms (linux, mac, Windows, Android, ouya and ios) It...

Re: Tweaks/Tricks you had to get games to load.

I had trouble with a couple of c64 games - Times of Lore and Wizardry (the Edge version); Times of Lore - required you to adjust the aziumuth screw - Now I must have gone back with about 5 copies of this before working this out - everyone of my other games worked fine at the default setting. Even ye...

Re: Pixel Art games

I suppose it means making the graphics look retro on purpose. The graphics are hand drawn pixel by pixel - to look no newer than 16-bit style (more likely 8-bit games). Shading is usually dithered draught board style, the palette is limited - so maybe only one highlight and one darkening per colour ...

Pixel Art games

There seems to be a spate of pixel art games coming out recently on mobile devices (I'd love to see a retro gamer article on them) - so what are your favourites? my like's are; - Knights of Pen & Paper (android) - my favourite pixel art game, brings me back to playing D&D with my mates 25 years ago ...
