Re: Greatest Mega Drive games of all time

It's a bit like Eurovision this is. Maybe a future list should use a similar scoring system to it. Put a list of 50 games up for a system, and votes can be given to your favourites from that list (1 to 7 points, then 8, 10 and 12). I need to get out more. Anyway, my list: 10 points: Golden Axe 9 poi...

Re: RetroN 5 Thoughts

Seems interesting but not sure if I'd want one under the TV in the front room. I can imagine it looking kind of cheap and I don't think the multitude of cartridge and controller slots would make it the most attractive looking of devices. But, if the price is right and the emulation is good, then I c...

Re: Why did old console games have music/SFX tests in option

I was convinced one of the fighters in SFII always said "Helloooo Ken!" during his attack. Not sure who, was never a big fan of the game. Never really understood why games had sound tests, but I do remember using them to record music from Mega Drive games onto cassette tapes through a cable from the...

Doesn't look bad at all. Just hope that Sega don't try to modernise the way Mickey handles like they did with Sonic in the Sonic 4 games.

Forgot about that, I need to edit my list.
It's certainly a forgotten gem!

Re: Controllers that you hate.

The pair I had for the Acorn Electron were awful. Still got them somewhere and think I only used them twice. http://acorn.chriswhy.co.uk/8bit_Upgrad ... oller.html

No GX4000?! Had to pick Megadrive, Master System and SNES instead.

Re: Awful 16-bit Platformers

Magic Pockets on the Amiga was well received at the time. Tried it out not long ago and thought it was terrible! I also loved Sonic 1 and Sonic 2 but could never warm to Sonic 3.

Re: German Retro Gamer issue 2

Might it just be that the Atari 8-bits weren't really that big or relevant in Europe and for most people so they sometimes get overlooked? It's a bit like Boulder Dash was apparently a game released first for on old Apple computer (or was that also an Atari 8 bit?), but I'm sure most people would se...

This week, I finally completed Fantasia for the Megadrive. Got to say that, once I got past the game's dodgy controls, it wasn't actually too bad. :D

Re: Near the end of a generation: Wii, PS3 or Xbox 360?

I've voted for Wii. I probably play PS3 more nowadays, but during the 'generation' I've probably enjoyed the Wii more. I've played Mario Kart for many hours, and Mario Galaxy 1 and 2 are still amazing. I've still got Zelda Twilight Princess to play through. I started it, but decided to play the game...

I'd also love to see Stoke stay up, but just as long as they beat Man Utd on Boxing Day I'll be happy.

Fantasia on the Mega Drive was perhaps the first game that really frustated me - partly because I was expecting another Castle of Illusion and the game was a total disappointment (bad presentation, sound, etc.), but mainly because it was such a dog to control! I'm sure I heard a rumour years ago tha...
