Re: "Retro" Gamer?

What I was driving at was that there's content that can't possibly be categorised as retro, no matter what. The mind boggles when you're announcing the next version of the ultra-moden, latest-tech FPS. I can't remember the last time I saw an RG feature/review on an FPS that didn't have some kind of...

Re: "Retro" Gamer?

It's most likely because this issue about the definition of retro keeps coming up. This wasn't an attack on you Gryzor, just a general observation. As a side-note, I have to agree that the retro diary is a waste of a page. Not because of what gets featured there but because it's just a bit random. ...

Re: "Retro" Gamer?

@nakamura:Not quite, though I see your point; the fact that the specific article made me mad and made me just go to bed doesn't mean I'm not reading the rest of the magazine. I'm still buying it, will probably renew my sub (due in December I think), but reading about the release of MoH, as if we've ...

Re: "Retro" Gamer?

I don't get why you assume I mean that the mag 'has gone off the boil' :D I merely comment on the direction I perceive it to be taking! And yes, it's still my favourite read of the month - heck, it's the only mag I've been reading regularly since its beginnings, and the only mag I've ever subscribed...

Re: "Retro" Gamer?

Hello Darran, I was waiting for your reply, as always :) However, in all honesty, I can't understand why you react this way and getting a bit aggressive... It's not like anyone is attacking the mag or accusing you of anything. To be absolutely clear: I understand that it's a tough job, juggling all ...

Re: "Retro" Gamer?

@siamesegiant: retro is not so much subjective as it is relative (two different words and meanings here). Which means that you *can* definitely define 'retro' within a certain range for a given age. Then it comes down to who your audience is. I'm 34, and been with the mag since issue 2 (damn my relu...

Re: "Retro" Gamer?

The future classics section is amazing and now my fav part of the mag. It can cover titles you missed on older platforms that you might actually still want to play. I for one, despite growing up on C64 and Amstrad, don't want to spend any of my spare time playing the games. Future classics has more...

Re: "Retro" Gamer?

So when you say more and more pages, you mean two? No, that was three that I just happened to mention... more to skip ahead... I think the Future Classic feature is quite good, it's interesting to consider which games will stand the test of time and be considered classics in the future. Well, maybe...

Re: "Retro" Gamer?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQR9bw-4R08 Oh wow, haven't heard to that in ages... Retro :) BTW, I know what you mean, but then again what? Shouldn't I express my opinion? I think Feedback is about giving your two cents, no matter if it's been discussed before or not. Darran can choose to ignore i...

"Retro" Gamer?

Yeah, I know this has been a topic of discussion for some time now, but please do forgive me - I just need to vent my frustration on this fine, cool October Sunday morning. Whatever happened to our magazine? I mean, with every passing issue I find myself skipping more and more pages, simply because ...

Ooh, thanks for that! It didn't occur to me to look in 'Feedback', since this is not really feedback for the mag...

Thanks again!

Last ish did not arrive.... now what?

Hello there,

Usually my copy I'm a subscriber) arrives one or two days after I see the first feedback comments here, but this month it's been a week already and no sign of it; starting to worry here... So if nothing shows up, what do I do?

Cheers

Re: Issue 66 Feedback thread

Integrating them certainly seems right to me. The format a game is on should really be irrelevant to me. It's a game. Is it good? Splitting the iphone, or indeed the Symbian S60s seems no more sensible than splitting Amiga and ST into their own separate sections. Ditto (or, for the youngsters in he...

Re: Issue 66 Feedback thread

I've made it quite clear in numerous threads that the iPhone coverage isn't going anywhere and yet people continue to ignore me and moan about it, so I'm simply restating my point in the hope that it might finally sink in. Darran, I may be banned or whatever because of this, but I really, really do...
