Picked up a 65XE with disc drive, tape deck, lightgun about 5 carts, some tape games and a box of game erm backups on disc for 30 quid on evil-bay.. Even had the original Atari TV cable with it :o :) tbh bought it mainly for the 1050 drive as I already have an 800XL - so the XE will go back on ebay ...

no 'invade-a-load' for us poor Atarians to be fair european countries and capitals had david 'kid jensen' talking while it loaded.... :roll: There was a poke to get the tape player to play music tapes from basic as well as I recall.. getting scarily close to remembering what it is as well.. :oops:

the atari 800 was constructed in such a way that it is impossible to write a turbo loader so you had to load at stock speeds. on the plus side the stereo tracks were seperated so you could record an audio track on one side and the data on the other - but even Martin Galway would be pushed to write ...
