Re: The Google Stadia

Nope, not for me. This whole idea of games as a service and having to stream them worries me, doubling down on the problems of "losing" games from your digital library. (Look at all the websites dedicated to telling you what's on the film/TV streaming services and how often they put out messages say...

Re: Mame Advice please

The download was from the Archive.org, not sure if that was the best place to go now, ha ha. I think the Rom set I got might not be complete though. There are few comments about issues on with the download being corrupt. Mine wasn't corrupt, but the site says the download is 58GB, but my completed d...

Re: Questions for Stoo Cambridge

It's In The Chair, so I only get six... I'm always curious about why articles have a set number of pages. In instances like this where you have a lot of great content would there ever be a disscussion about getting extra pages and holding back another small article to another issue? Issues are plan...

Re: Questions for Stoo Cambridge

So, the interview lasted 90 minutes and the transcript is 13,000 words... now to cram as much of the interesting stuff into the article... Looking forward to it, better to have too much that too little :) Yeah... although I have shrunk it down to 5300 words so far, there's plenty of the interesting...

Did they get any complaints around the opening music for cannon fodder on the Amiga?
Stoo: I don't ever recall any complaints, having said that Jon Hare is probably more qualified to answer this question than me.

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 191

Really enjoyed the Chris Shrigley and Total War pieces.
Kieren, it's a shame your piece misses out the amazing score table & attract sequence when talking about Bounty Bob Strikes Back.

So Epic Games is now suing the organisers, 'Exciting Events'
I'm not surprised. It was an unofficial event, not endorsed by Epic - and that means the shambles it turned out to be was bad publicity for the game.

Re: When was the NES released in the UK and the rest of Europe?

In my area (Great Yarmouth) the NES was well and truly on the radar before the Turtles pack came out. It had been on sale, with a very substantial display and demo unit (with just about every black-box game available to play, along with others such as RC Pro Am, Castlevania, Mike Tyson's Punch Out)...

Re: When was the NES released in the UK and the rest of Europe?

I do wonder how different programming games for the NES was compared to the Spectrum and the Commodore 64. I mean, they were all 8-bit machines, but you have different color palettes and processors. I've spoken to one or two programmers who worked on the NES - its Ricoh processor was basically a cl...

The Powers That Be might ponder upon this: It has been many many issues since the first thing I read upon opening the magazine was the main story.
It's an interesting thought... I often leave it till last anyway, working my way through some of the smaller articles and regular content first.

Is it really Stoo - that isn't some pet/nick name?
Stoo short for Stuart - what he used to enter into high-score tables to save time.

Re: When was the NES released in the UK and the rest of Europe?

Mattel handled distribution of the NES in the UK, it didn't officially launch in the UK until 1987.

Most of mainland Europe saw it launched in 1986.
