Re:

I think that I got 'Beyond the Forbidden Forest' on a Zzap! magazine once. The tape also had a demo of the Robocop 2 game that came out on cartridge. I'm quite sure that 'Bounder' also appeared on a C64 cover tape. I remember I had the original, but I used to play the cover tape version because it ...

A trio of SNES moments - completing Super Mario World for the first time, getting 100 on all the levels of Yoshi's Island and getting to the end of Super Metroid. I bought mine second-hand from a student who was upgrading to a PS1, and I'm glad I did.

The C64 games are pretty impressive for the machine - Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken for example. I also have a soft spot for Labyrinth, which can probably be considered the fore-runner of the SCUMM games. Large animated sprites, verb/noun input, puzzles. And it was also the foundation for the onl...

Mentioned this on a different forum today:

EUREKA

With mad inventor Wilf Lunn creating such memorable contraptions as the automatic worm charmer, and Sylvester McCoy (and others) recreating the history of famous inventions. A BBC classic, part educational, mostly good fun.

Re:

I would rather make my own CDs recorded directly from my C64, than either buy someone else's compilation which won't match my favourites, or use SidPlay which is emulated sound. I have also always played my C64 audio through proper speakers. It's the only way. Kenz used to offer (I don't know if he...

Necronom - I was there too!

If you want audio CD's, can I point you in the direction of www.binaryzone.org and my friend Kenz who is selling a huge number of excellent recordings? There's even a CD called "Pure 6581" with over 200 MP3 recordings, ideal for chucking on a portable player.

Paperboy, Hypersports and 720 all featured on FIRST CLASS, a BBC quiz show for schools presented by Debbie Greenwood.

It was mentioned before, on the old RG forum. It's just a question of gathering more resources to make it worthwhile (hi Aonghus!) ;)

What I love is the fact there are so many different styles of tune done on SID, from hardcore techno to full-on rock with sampled guitars. And there is still innovation - the recent SID competition over at www.c64.sk produced some great experimental pieces. If you want to hear more, head over to www...

Those same titles worked just as well on a real C64, negating the need for the GS.
BUT without the GS and the need for cartridges, those titles might not have existed on the C64.

I'd like to disagree strongly about the C64GS because: 1. Some of the cart titles produced for it are amazing - Shadow of the Beast, Pang, Robocop 3, Battle Command 2. It wasn't just "one" fire button - the new Annihilator joysticks added an extra button 3. You can hack the console to make it into a...
