Re: You Ask The Questions - Francois Lionet

Don’t think I ever used AMOS zones! I think they maybe they are good for buttons you click with a mouse. I remember using AMAL maybe once or twice and never using that again. You had a lot of flexibility in that language I also want to ask Francois - What was his favourite game made in AMOS? As Ant...

Re: screenshots

At its most basic, magazines used to take photos of the screen. For example, Newsfield photographer Cameron Pound used to put a blanket over his head and the camera to reduce glare. The photos were developed and then pasted into the layout. By the early 1990s the first screen grabbers arrived - at i...

Re: Green Beret (MSX version)

Interesting question, I did that piece - and never had the chance to delve further into the story behind the MSX release. This was in a period where Ocean were expanding but still had a relatively small in-house team. And I don't believe they had any MSX "experts" on staff, so would have has to cont...

Re: Retro Gamer Review Marks

You should really consider the marks as being different categories.
The ratings for homebrew are based on how good the game is for that system and how original it is, while the "new" releases in Retro Rated are more about comparing value as a new game - if that makes sense.

Re: You Ask The Questions - Francois Lionet

I really liked the very good game Chickin Chase (I played this a lot on the ZX Spectrum). For some reason I was thinking about this game when I read that Francois was a good French software developer. I am not sure why but Chickin Chase seems like a very French game. Are there any plans on doing a ...

I have seen people criticising the mag again for being safe and covering the "same topics", but this issue shows some great variety once more and really interesting stuff.

Re: You Ask The Questions - Francois Lionet

Will we see an update of censored' In as a demo of AMOS 2 capabilities? The forum censored my game title! Will we see an update of C O C K' I N as a demo of AMOS 2 capabilities? (It's an Oric game by Francois) I had worked out the title - in the UK it was known as Chickin Chase, and Fra...

You Ask The Questions - Francois Lionet

Time for the readers to ask the questions once more, as I interview French programmer Francois Lionet. Starting out with the Oric and then the Commodore 64, Francois joined the very French development team JAWX. And then - interrupted by his military service - he unleashed first STOS (Atari ST) and ...

Re: Zzap! Annual 2020 kickstarter

Been looking at this. Loved the first annuals, and they are great quality, great value. Fusion books kickstarters are the ones I trust 110%. Only reason I've been arguing with myself is due to having the other Zzap 64 and Crash Annuals, and wondering how much space I can use for these on the booksh...
