Re: Retro Gamer issue 179

This is looking to be a scourcher of an issue and the gifts are an added bonus. I have yet to play the CD and may already have many of the tracks in my collection bought from C64audio but shall enjoy it none the less. The poster is nice as well, it’s a shame about the passing of artist Bob Wakelin t...

Re: the Hi-Fi thread

For music I have a Marantz CD6000 KI signature CD player and a Pioneer N50A Network Player connected to my home cinema set up of an Onkyo TX NR808 with MK speakers and a REL T7 Sub. It all sound great for music as well as movies as I run the stereo satellite speakers and sub in pure audio for music ...

Re: Toys R Us

Sadly another retailer is now disappearing with the closure of the Toys R Us stores. A few closed this week with the rest to follow. Unfortunately the business couldn't (or possibly wouldn't) compete with the Internet and other shops. It's sad when people lose jobs, especially so many. It is a sad ...

Re: Change one thing?

Spectrum 16/48 - Although the removal of colour clash would be good I think less processor intensive sound with better amplification so sound could play without stopping everything else i.e. better in game music. Listening to what has been achieved on the beeper using 1 bit sound the speccy would ha...

Re: If not the "Big 3" 8-bits then who?

Atari 8bit would be one of my choices, but would have to have a disk drive I cant believe how slow tape load is on them 30 mins for a game that loads in 3-4 on a speccy or C64. I think it had got good capabilities that were never fully used due to the lack of support here in the UK at least. I think...

Re: Any amiga pros around?

To me they just look like parts of the 17bit PD collection, I have 50+ of them myself but none of those as I was a subscriber to their updates for a while, I wouldn't have thought they were worth much. Not sure about the promo Winter Olympiad 88, the copy of the game I have is from the Tynesoft Amig...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 178

Not really a good one for me. Goldeneye was interesting enough and I agree about the way it was written in nice byte size chunks. My copy hasn't got any of the print issues mentioned here which is at least a good point. I hope 3D texture mapped polygons don't show up too often no mater how low res t...

Have you been affected by the KFC shortage? I've only ever had one in my life as I wasn't that impressed with it.
Same here, I think I got desperate once and got one but never since. Can't say I have that much affection for any of the fast food chains.

Re: From THe Forum 178: Share your Pac-Man anecdotes with us

I've never played the original arcade version but use to play numerous clones on computers. I have got Pac Mania on the Amiga, a great version of the game with super fast smooth full screen scrolling.

Oh I also have a Pac Man stapler. :)

1. Platformer - Monty on the run. 2. Shoot 'em up - Galaga. 3. Adventure - The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time. My first encounter with Link and still very memorable. 4. Driving game - Outrun. 5. RPG - Kingdom Hearts. 6. FPS - Half Life 2. Its predecessor redefined the FPS, this improved on the form...

Re: The64 - Computer And Handheld Console

This one doesn't spark as much interest with me as it is just an emulator running on raspberry pie'ish hardware. It's a nice little design but they could have made the keyboard functional even if not a practical size for proper typing. It also does't offer any new enhancements.

Despite having a N64 from the early days I never got Golden Eye and still have not played it. I did get its spiritual successor though Perfect Dark.

Bo Jangeborg video

I've just watched this interview with the great Bo Jangeborg on the Retro Gamer main site, it was very interesting to hear what influenced him and how he started of. I loved the Fairlight games having had both for the Spectrum128k, I have to admit I was unable to complete them but did manage to map ...
