Re: From the forum: 185

I believe my first encounter was with the real arcade machine whilst on holiday in a camp near Rye back in the late 70's. Didn't last very long and never touched another arcade machine for at least another 6-7 years. I've not played many actual arcade machines.

Re: What did you prefer: cassettes or 5¼" floppies?

Did anything except cartridges beat the Amstrad CPC 6128 at speed for loading games? Not had any experience with the 6128 but I'd say the drives in the Tatung Einstein are better as they don't have that horrid rubber band. I have always believed they used the same 3" Hitachi drive Nope, my Einstein...

Re: What did you prefer: cassettes or 5¼" floppies?

Did anything except cartridges beat the Amstrad CPC 6128 at speed for loading games? Disk loading on the Atari computers is really fast, I think its been quoted as the fastest of all the 8-bits. I think this is due to the design where the disk drive has it's own processor and the high speed SIO con...

Nope, just Atari ST and the 8-bits.

Did you ever consider making a Magic Knight game for the 16bit machines, Amiga or AtariST.

Re: What grinds your gears ?

It's the soap fans that moan about sport on TV that do my nut in. Corrie has been moved half hour due to the match over running. Oh no, it's not like soaps aren't on 365 days a year. I don't know why people still bother with soaps, Isn't it just marry, baby, divorce, murder repeat all year round.

Re: What grinds your gears ?

Football taking over regular TV, even channels that are not showing it are affected. People moaning about footy taking over TV, its not the 80's with 4 channels. You have tons to watch, tons to watch online and as seen by the audience for the last England game its way more popular than the other ce...

Re: What did you prefer: cassettes or 5¼" floppies?

I guess now that would depend on the machine I'm using. In my early days with the ZX Spectrum it was cassette as there was no real standard of floppy drive available until much later with the +3, but by then I'd moved on to the Amiga 500. On the C64 I guess either way as unless a speed loader was us...

Re: Subscriber Covers

I like the clutter free cover idea. The street fighter cover was just a direct copy from the current generation game disc box covers and as I'm not a real fan of the game neither version really grabbed me.

You loose all your bonuses and get put back to the beginning of the level

Ok the truth is nothing, you just cease to be and someone else has to pick up the pieces and dispose of you before you leave a rotting stink. You could have some of your parts recycled to help someone else.

Re: Retro Gamer issue 181

Am I really reading an article about architectural structures in 8-bit video games? Who on Earth gave that the go ahead? Scraping the barrel a bit. It was inspired by this forthcoming book on Unbound, all about videogame cities/architecture: https://unbound.com/books/virtual-cities/ I quite liked i...

I've not been to a car boot sale for some time now. The last thing I bought was a box of Amstrad CPC games.
