Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Been toying with it for a while, and finally took the plunge on a MK1 Lynx from Ebay. £18 in its original box and posted for that price, which I'm very pleased with. Seller listed it as 'untested', which in my experience actually means 'thoroughly tested and dead as a Dodo', but given it's in its or...

Re: ps2 emulation coming soon to ps4

Sony have definitely missed a trick here. If it had been a disc-based option then they would have tempted the likes of me into buying a PS4. As it is, I'll just stick with getting the games from charity shops and playing it on the native hardware.

Re: Charity Shops

Nice little find in Cancer Research yesterday - a sealed copy of Myst V - collectors edition for £5. More than I'd normally spend, but always good to have sealed stuff in the collection for future trades.

Brilliantly, because of how the case is designed, it was in the books section.

I am literally playing everything I can think of.
I am speechless at the Dreamcast performance of my XD. Ikaruga is frame perfect, as is Rez.

Re: Charity Shops

Not retro, but I just picked up Far Cry 4 for the PS4 for £5. Charity shops round my way aren't exactly great for games, bar the usual load of old FIFA games. Maybe it's because of prices like this though, and they just go quicker than I actually see them! First ever Wii U game I've found in a char...

Re: Charity Shops

£3.99 is expensive the Charity shops around here sell PS2 GameCube, Megadrive, DS and Wii games between 20p and £1 whilst Nintendo 64, PS3 and 360 games sell for £3.99; a boxed N64 Pokemon was £10. These where the games I've seen in the last few months... You're obviously not in the middle of Londo...

Re: Tablet & Emulation question

I will take a more in-depth look at the button mapping for you. Everything has worked without having the need to use it so far - I putting together a monster video as no one has done a good enough one on it yet - and that is on my to-do list. Will let you know more tomorrow. When you say 'removed' d...

Another thumbs up for Heart of Gaming in Acton - think it runs as a not-for-profit too, so well worth supporting something that's done for the love rather than the $$$

Re: Tablet & Emulation question

Seriously, take a look at the GPD XD. I have just received mine from Hong Kong and as far as portable retro emulation goes, it's an absolute game-changer. It's got a 6,000mAh battery and I got about 8 hours off its last charge, and I was absolutely caning it - downloads, a full SoR2 playthrough and ...

Re: Charity Shops

Today, My nephew texted me to say he had seen some Dragon 32 games in a Cancer Research shop. Am I being unreasonable? Really tricky one. I would say you're not being unreasonable, but you might be verging on the side of 'a bit tight' It's not really an issue of money this, it's more an issue...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

Finally finished Super Ghouls and Ghosts for the first time in my life this week. Wanted to actually cry my eyes out.

Next stop? To finish it on native hardware with no save states

Interestingly it'd odd that the first level is by some considerable margin, the hardest level in the game.

Re: Unsavoury Carboot incident.

Rossi, I'd have been the same as you. What stopped me from car booting was the I realised fairly quickly that I seemed to be supplementing the incomes of resellers rather than real dads with kids, gamers and collectors. Rather depressingly it forced me over to eBay to sell things as I don't have a l...

Re: Charity Shops

Worst mistake was not buying the NES Deluxe set with ROB the robot from Oxfam. Went to think about it for 10 minutes and had gone by the time I came back. It was mint condition and priced at 100 - must easily be worth triple that and so hard to come by these days. £100? I would have ripped their ar...

Re: ps2 emulation coming soon to ps4

The other interesting thing will be how this affects PS2 prices. If they release a lot of the rarer titles as DLC then you can see the prices dropping, if it's a disk-based implementation then now might be a good time to buy your Rule of Rose, Suikoden, Silent Hill collection and Wild Arms 5 with t...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Playing through Zelda:OOT on proprietary hardware for the first time. Weirdly never played it when it first came out, I cannot explain why. Regretting it sadly as I don't have anything to upscale it with, and my KX14-CP1 Trinitron CRT has died a death (power caps have gone, I think) - so it looks li...
