Re: GTA V

If anyone is interested, Game have this pre-owned for £7.99 on the PS3 today. Just bought it for myself as I only played it for a couple of days when it came out due to my 360 dying (surprise, surprise).

Re: Yoshis Island - WOW!

Funny you should mention Yoshi's Island. I was watching a lot of the Awesome Games Done Quick 2016 Live screenings the other day, which led me to this 2014 speedrun of Yoshi's Island. Well worth a quick look to see someone playing it with a complete mastery of the controls and sophistication it requ...

Have put this on the 'to go' list when I next go back up North to visit my mum.

If I go, I may be some time...

Re: Mario 2

It is a great game, but I remember thinking something was off from an early age when playing it - there's something wrong about Mario jumping on an enemy and it not getting squished. And pulling up vegetables? Strange. I don't think I realised just how different Mario 2 was until Mario 3 came out, ...

That and tomatoes. Don't know what's happened to my tastebuds in the intervening years, but they play hell with my gag reflex now.

"Locksley, I'm gonna cut your heart out with a spoon"

What an actor; will be remembered for some of *the* great flamboyant baddies ever to appear on screen (and stage).

Re: Games found in a consoles dvd drive

Happened to me the other day actually. Walked past my local cash converters and they had a 120gb PS3 with all the gubbins for £39.99, so couldn't leave it there for that. Inside was a copy of WWE 15. Not my cup of tea whatsoever but flipped it on eBay for £5. It was slightly concerning though as it ...

Re: NEC PC-KD863G PC Engine RGB Monitor

Nice find, never seen on in the wild, was offered one a long time ago for £700, would love some of the rarer PC Engine type systems, but the prices are getting frightening now, was recently offered a Laseractive and PC Engine module, but cannot justify handing over a grand for it. Especially anythi...

Re: Whats your "go to" game(s)?

Streets of Rage 2 is probably the correct answer, but I normally have a play-through of GTA:SA, an emulated save of SMB:3 and something brisk and arcade-y and vapid like Rez on constant rotation.

Re: Charity Shops

Forgot what a poor time it was for charity shop gaming. Covered pretty much every single one of my favourite haunts today and there wasn't a single new addition to the shelves.

Re: PS3 collecting

If anyone's got an HMV near them, go and see if they've got any PS3 consoles left. They are removing what is essentially deadstock from the shelves and selling the 12gb version for £39.99 - yup, 39.99. All gone in Oxford circus and Westfield but other stores will be selling them at that price if the...

Re: This Final Fantasy VII remake...

YOu can avoid random encounters? Gets my vote. Unavoidable random encounters are crap in any game. That sentence just takes me back to Dragon Quest VI, Get unlucky on your chosen path in a dungeon and it would be every couple of squares that you'd encounter something bad. On the subject of an 'epis...

Re: Gamecube - your favourite title and collecting

GC is the primary system I collect for now; interesting to see how much the prices are going up (or have gone up) for it. Sadly I had to sell off my GC collection (150+ games, most of the premium titles) about 2 years ago to part fund the deposit for our flat. Probably got half the value for it then...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Been toying with it for a while, and finally took the plunge on a MK1 Lynx from Ebay. £18 in its original box and posted for that price, which I'm very pleased with. Seller listed it as 'untested', which in my experience actually means 'thoroughly tested and dead as a Dodo', but given it's in its o...

Re: What are you currently playing?

Super Metroid for the first time in about 10 years. Horrible when you remember a little - but not quite enough - about a game like that. Drives you potty.

Still glorious though.
