Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

I've cancelled my pre-order. Not because I don't like the line up - it's actually stronger than I was expecting. I just had a moment of clarity where I realised £89.99 could be better spent elsewhere. I wonder why they settled on including just 20 games. They could have doubled that number without t...

Re: N64 mini pix leaked

Could Rare legally re-release GoldenEye without the 007 licence and call it Secret Agent or something?
It'd lose some if its nostalgia factor but better than not having it at all.

Re: What are you currently playing?

NFSU2 is an excellent game.
This and the 2012 Hot Pursuit are my favourites.

Re: What System would you like a 'Classic' console for?

A Vectrex would be amazing!

Other than that I'd quite like an Atari Jaguar, Atari Lynx and a Gamecube with additional Gameboy Player content.

Re: GBA Collecting

I still find the odd GBA bargain at car boot sales. Always check boxes of PS2 or Xbox games as the GBA was around at the same time and you sometimes find GBA gems knocking about under the other stuff.

Re: Streets of Rage 4 officially announced!!!

Really glad that Streets of Rage has been remembered and I'm sure it will play well if the Wonderboy remake is anything to go by.
I have to say though, I'm not crazy about the art style. It looks too manga inspired - too cartoony - where the original games had a grittier, 80s action movie feel.

Re: The first games you completed.

Bruce Lee on the ZX Spectrum. That game was dead easy to complete though, I just used to go round and round completing and starting again. Great game! I wasn't much of a 'completer' generally - something new would come along and I'd start on that. Later on I completed Super Mario Bros. on my NES and...

Re: Spectrum Vega Plus Poll

I'm a Spectrum Next backer and I think the way the campaign's run has been exemplary. There have been quite a few delays but communication has been excellent - there have been regular emails explaining exactly what's happening. In fact, confidence in the product is so high that if backers get cold f...

Re: What's Your Favorite Driving/Racing Game Ever?

The last racing game that really did it for me was Criterion's NFS Hot Pursuit. An excellent, arcadey racer with plenty of variety and replayability. I don't like 'open world' in racing games, I'm not interested in tuning cars, I'm not interested in cinematics about rebelious road racers. On the oth...

Re: PlayStation game banned

You just know that the ban will result in massive demand for the game - just like it did with Manhunt 2 - Nothing guarantees inflated prices and demand than a ban on a game  Seriously though - I have to wonder how this kind of game gets developed without someone stopping and saying "Hang on, a...

Re: PlayStation game banned

Um, I like that kinda style, but it wouldn't corrupt my mind to the extent I want to see something like that for a real life person, that would be completely wrong. I'm fine with fictional ecchi/whatever but if it was strongly based on or was real life, I'd be against it. Maybe it's just me being s...

Re: PlayStation game banned

I'm not a huge fan of censorship in general but this game has been banned because it's been deemed likely to cause harm. I haven't played it but if the article is accurate and gameplay indeed involves the sexualisation of children and particularly if these two descriptions are true: Many of these ch...

Re: Discuss: Spectrum vs Amstrad Gaming

The only game I can think of which was noticably bad on the Amstrad was Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade which seemed to have a bug meaning it was impossible to get past the first level (I had the C64 version which was good). It wasn't that bad... just ported straight from the Spectrum version (h...

Re: Discuss: Spectrum vs Amstrad Gaming

No one wanted to use a green screen monitor for games though. When people are comparing games across systems it's the colour version of Amstrad games people are looking at, not the monochrome. You didn't have to use the green screen for games. If you wanted to plug a CPC into a colour TV set in the...

Re: Discuss: Spectrum vs Amstrad Gaming

Also by Christmas 1984 the 48k Speccy was down to about £80-£90, the C64 about double that. That still made the CPC almost double the price of a C64 and quadruple that of a Speccy. The 80s were hard times for many parents and £350-£400 for a CPC was simply beyond their reach. You're way off with th...
