Re: Which Rare era was the best to you?

While I loved many of their games on the Spectrum (Sabrewulf and sequels, Alien8 etc) the games I have probably spent the most time on are the isometric NES games. RC Pro Am, Cobra Triangle and Snake, Rattle n Roll were all played to death (or until I hit a difficulty wall - never managed to complet...

Re: Anyone into Scalextric ???

When I was a kid I had a Matchbox Race & Chase (with awesome box-art). The cars were smaller than Scalextric but it had a U-Turn function where you clicked a button on top of the controller and your car turned around and went in the other direction. It had a figure of 8 track with a see-saw ramp in ...

Re: Best / Worst controllers and 3rd party controllers

I never liked the Dreamcast controller either, the grips are too parallel and the stick is too slippery. The N64 pad was always a bit of a mess too imho. A rare mis-step from Nintendo which they followed up with the Gamecube pad - one of my favourites (apart from the Z button). As for decent third p...

That review was one of the worst i had seen in Crashi I too was taken in by their 96% Crash Smash review, went out a bought it (I wasn't even in to Zoids!) and never worked out what I was supposed to be doing! ...

Re: Gaming TV Shows

I was thinking of something that would have a broader appeal. The closest thing I can think of to what I mean would be the toy programmes that James May has made. You don't have to be into the toys to watch the programmes - they just show you how cleverly designed the toys are and illustrate their p...

Gaming TV Shows

I was just wondering why there aren't any decent gaming TV shows and wondered if any of you had any thoughts. Given how much money the games industry makes these days, and how big midnight launches always make the news, you'd think someone somewhere would try to find a workable format. Most recently...

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

After finally getting all my Megadrive stuff in one place at the weekend I've decided to add to the collection (not so much decided to as failed to resist the temptation actually). I've just picked up a copy of Story of Thor which I've never played but heard good things about. I'm also thinking abou...

Re: Best or Worst of ZX Spectrum

A semi-official port that I enjoyed was Frank Bruno's Boxing - a port of Punch Out.
The graphics were really good and it played pretty well apart from the fact you had to use the keyboard as well as the joystick which could be a bit cumbersome. The characters and humour were great.

Re: Shinobi vs Rolling Thunder

Tough one. Rolling Thunder looks better imho - I just love the design of the baddies. Shinobi was easier though, which meant you could get further on a single credit. It also had a cool first person bonus stage. Another plus point was that I always got a kick out of seeing 'Spider-Man'. In terms of ...

Re: Introduce yourself

Hi all, My name's James, I'm 37 years old and I've been gaming for about as long as I can remember. In fact, I can't actually remember what was the first game I ever played. I grew up in Great Yarmouth and trips to the arcades were fairly regular so it would have been some old coin-op or possibly th...
