Re: Top 25 NES games

Punch Out. My. Favourite game on the NES - it's just about perfect. Cobra Triangle. A really under rated and unique game. I can't think of anything else like it and I spent hours and hours on this as a kid. RC Pro Am. My favourite racer on the system. Special mention to the Duck Hunt/Super Mario Bro...

Re: Wii U

I've had a Wii U since last Xmas and it didn't get much use for the first few months but it's fast becoming my favourite console. There are some cracking games available and many of them are very affordable (especially if you don't mind pre-owned bargains). I think that the much mocked controller is...

Re: Mega Drive Shmups

Another one I'd recommend is Super Fantasy Zone. It plays like a cutesy, slowed down version of Defender. I think these games were more popular in Japan and there are a couple of older versions available on the Master System.
Definitely worth checking out if you're after something a little different.

Re: Buses

My mum and dad were on a bus yesterday and had to get off because a man shat on the back seat in protest at having been told off for smoking. He was wearing pyjamas.

Re: Mega Drive Shmups

I'd recommend Ranger X which is a sort of cross between a traditional shmup and a run and gun.

I also think it's better than 'Revenge' - in fact i never liked 'Revenge' very much at all. Shadow Dancer is better too.

Re: Games that don't get the attention they deserve

The first games that popped into my head were Kirby's Dream Course (SNES) and Vanquish (360, PS3).

I'd also have to say Brian Bloodaxe (Speccy), another vote for Solar Jetman (NES) and Donkey Kong (GB) and I'd add Snake Rattle n Roll and Cobra Triangle (Both NES) and Rogue Trooper (Xbox, PS2).

I'm pretty sure that X-Men 2 on the Megadrive is worth more than £30 on its own.

Re: Your own arcade

There was an arcade on the Britannia Pier in Great Yarmouth (still is) that didn't have any carpet on the floor. This meant that any dropped coins would fall through the gaps in the floor boards. we used to climb up the struts under the pier and grab all the coins that had landed on the cross beams....

Re: Your own arcade

Now someone needs to decide what would make the best 'Golden Mile'. We all know that one arcade on it's own is no good - you need a whole line of them going up the seafront. So what would be the best 10 arcades, from the one's described, to put on the seafront?

Re: Your own arcade

With the Hang on bike I don't think you were really supposed to have your feet on the ground, you were supposed to sit on the bike with your feet on the pegs and lean. The machine wasn't particularly heavy so kids could definitely play it. Having said that, it was far easier if you could plant your ...
