Re: Future Classic : Vanquish

Vanquish is one of my favourite games of last generation. Absolutely stunning and the closest thing to an 80s arcade run+gun translated to 3D as we're ever likely to see.

Re: Wii U Owners Thread - Including User IDs

I'm still awaiting delivery of my copy of Pikmin 3 which I ordered from an Amazon seller. I paid £38 including postage and it was supposedly dispatched last week but hasn't arrived yet!

Re: racing game collectors thread

I think one of the problems publishers have is this perceived notion of 'depth'. Criticism, particularly of NFS titles, seems to be that they lack depth whereas titles like Forza are endlessly praised for their limitless customisation and tuning options. I think this makes a pure arcade racer a toug...

Re: racing game collectors thread

I hate that they are all so serious and sim-y now. My faves are super off road, neo drift out, burnout 3, and Sega rally it seems like in recent times there has been more of a shift over to sim like games, people taking ideas from games like gran turismo and applying them into less reaslistic circu...

Re: racing game collectors thread

Favourite racers over the years:

RC Pro AM
F1ROC
Virtua Racing (Megadrive)
Need For Speed: Underground 2
TOCA Race Driver (PSP)
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit

I also really like future racers like Wipeout, the F Zero games, XtremeG3 and Star Wars Racer.

My current fave racing game is Mario Kart 8!

Re: Gaming Disasters Help needed

Something I always found pretty disgraceful were the raft of crappy handheld LCD games flooding the market in the 90s. Over a decade earlier Nintendo had dominated with their Game and Watch series and Granstand had made a pretty good stab at handheld LCDs with Pocket Scramble and Mini Munchman. By t...

Re: Wii U Owners Thread - Including User IDs

I think as a Wii U owner the best policy is to buy as many games on release as possible. The big titles are unlikely to drop much in price anyway. If you really want to secure a purchase it's probably worth pre-ordering (I've done this for Xenoblade as I can see it rocketing in price shortly after r...

Re: NES or SMS? What sound did you prefer?

I thought both machines sounded good at the time. I suppose the NES has more memorable tunes - the Mario games for example. The Master System version of Ghouls and Ghosts still sounds pretty good though.

Re: What things do you like doing when you're not playing ga

I read quite a bit. Mainly comics but the odd sci fi/fantasy/crime novel too. I enjoy films and going to the cinema (again more action, sci fi, fantasy stuff). I play some physical/tabletop games such as the X-Wing miniatures game and Magic. I'm a small scale collector of old toys/games too. I'll al...

Re: Franchises companies don't seem to know what to do with

I think franchises like Road Rash and Chase HQ have the potential to do well on PS4/Xbone because they're close enough to something like Need For Speed to have crossover appeal. Having said that Split Second and Blur both flopped badly. I think something like the Strike series is just too different ...

Re: Wii U Owners Thread - Including User IDs

This time last year I was questioning whether my Wii U purchase was the right decision. A year later it's my favourite console and I actually think it's going to be looked back on as one of those special consoles that come along every so often and that anyone who ever owned one loves - like a SNES o...

Re: Giana sisters fans?

Pac Man clone - Gobble a Ghost. One of the first games I ever played. I had a hacked C64 version on Gianna Sisters which had Mario sprites in it. He was always big Mario though, he didn't change size after eating a mushroom. I never really liked it much. A couple of years later I got a NES and the r...

Re: Should sega give sonic a break and try Alex kidd again

One of the interesting things about Alex Kidd is his ability to travel to various worlds. Maybe something like Alex Kidd in Sega-verse would be a goer? You could have a hub world similar to that in Mario 64 and then various levels and challenges set in different Sega worlds - Sonic, Out Run, Shinobi...
