Re: Mario coming to phones, iOS first in 2016.

I'm confused as to why Nintendo are getting so much stick for this. 'Pay some money and get a game' is what we all expect, right? 'Download a game that says its free then wade through hundreds of adverts or wrestle with game mechanics designed cynically to encourage you to keep pumping in money' is...

Re: New Rogue One Trailer

Here's the difference as I see it. Episode 1 was god awful and needs burying in the Nevada desert. Then let's never speak of the first three prequels again. Episode 7 was great. It felt and looked like Star Wars and it entertained and excited me for its duration. It contained no bad child actors, no...

Re: Mario coming to phones, iOS first in 2016.

Downloaded it. Played it for 5 minutes. Absolute garbage.
Looks nice, but it's really not Mario like to play, just Mario bolted onto a game mechanic I dislike.

There''s far better games of this genre on iOS... and importantly they don't cost 8 quid to play.
Poor show Nintendo. Poor show.

Re: Your Proudest Gaming Achievement?

Getting victory in Lords of Midnight using Luxor.
A monkey can beat the game as Morkin... just drop a ring in a pool, but it takes flipping ages to win as Luxor. Roaming around for hours collecting enough armies and Lords to defeat Doomdark.

Re: Retro Gamer Issue 162

Enjoyed the issue, some good articles. Particularly the How to Play Retro, the Chase HQ and especially Indiana Jones article (my favourite arcade game). Actually most of it was entertaining. The one article I did not like was the Metroid one. To be fair I'm a half hearted Metroid player, so it perha...

Re: Home Computer/Console Games

How about Jetpac - that would have been a great arcade game, also Gunfright could too... if it was jazzed up a bit for the arcades.
Raid Over Moscow had some good arcadey bits in it... could have worked.

Re: Formula 1 2016 thread

Well, at least there was no Schumacher style collision to decide the title. I think I must be on my own here but I miss all those shenanigans. The most exciting time in Formula 1 I ever remember watching, was the two years when first Prost crashed into Senna to claim the title in the last race, and...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

Apparently the longer cut of Batman v Superman adds a bit more detail Still dont want to watch it as im sick of the lights being out almost all the time in such films Thank goodness it's not just me. Why are so many films and TV series set in pitch black. I hate it when you have to turn up the brig...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

I watched two films today. The first was Star Trek Beyond. I've always been a big fan of Star Trek (well, since about the late '70s), but this one I found a bit average. It was okay, and there wasn't anything in particular I disliked, it was just a bit boring, even when things were blowing up a lot...

Re: What Films/TV Have you Watched Recently?

I really enjoyed the Grand Tour.
It was perhaps 10 minutes too long, and there have certainly been better episodes of Top Gear in the past. Having said that, it was the best 70 minutes of TV i've seen for a while. Good to have them back.

Re: Let's have a Christmas themed cover... Please!

Maybe next year... I'm sure you say that every year. Out of interest when was the last Christmas cover? Was it the Oliver Frey one with the alien and the RG team (that was an old Crash one), or has there been one since then. At my age, memory fades you know. That was the last one, yes. How long ago...
