Re: Are you backing the Spectrum Next

I don't even know what FPGA is... so I'm guessing this isn't the Spectrum I'm looking for.

Re: Are you backing the Spectrum Next

That's not quite true. One thing it's got going for it over emulators is that it's an FPGA-based logic-level implementation of the Spectrum that supports cycle-level timing - where software emulators just sync everything to the nearest frame - and a full expansion bus, which would allow you to hook...

Re: Are you backing the Spectrum Next

I saw the live demo of it at Revival last year ( Video Here! ) Its looks very cool and everything but I just don't really see the point in these modern versions of old computers. There is zero nostalgia attached and I can do all this on my PC without spending £175. I also agree with this. It looks ...

Re: Retro Gamer 167

Is there more than one cover?
Mine is the one with the Japanese writing on it.

Retro Gamer 167

Arrived yesterday - Mario Kart cover. I don't have a photo, sorry, I'm sure someone else with provide one. Looks like an excellent read. Colecovision, Mosaic software, Mario Kart look great Minor criticisms Disappointed that the Frogger article tells us nothing about the original arcade game and its...

Re: From the forum issue 168 - Multiplayer scumbaggery

I remember exploiting the fact in SNES FIFA Soccer that meant if you shot from a certain point at the edge of the box you were almost certain to score. Used it often against my friend until he cottoned on and banned it.

Re: Ever backed the wrong " Horse "

I also had an HD-DVD Player - the XBOX 360 one. Also in the late 70's I had loads of Black Hole action figures... not Star Wars. Once Empire came out I started a Star Wars collection. Don't remember what happened to the Black Hole ones, which is a shame as they might be worth something today. Edit.,...

Re: Robin of Sherwood(old ITV series)

Apparently Michael Praed is currently in Emmerdale... which isn't quite so mystical.

Re: Robin of Sherwood(old ITV series)

It was great at the time I loved it. Was quite mystical.
If you have Sky its on every afternoon on ITV Encore. I'm not sure its aged brilliantly, but it's still very watchable.

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 165

Tabe, ipmarks - this was a reader's top 25, based on votes placed in various places. (This and other gaming forums, Twitter and Facebook.) The end result is the readers' favourites, not necessarily the best all round games. Fair enough. But it still beggars belief that anyone would vote for Flight ...

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 165

Also the Apple II article picked Flight Simulator over Flight Simulator II. FS II is in a completely different league to the first one. No-one would play the original over its sequel. With this and Ultima it's whether the article author wanted to show the best games on the system or the most origina...

Grand Prix 2 on PC.
Deliberately cause a massive accident, then play it back multiple times from multiple angles. Great fun.

Re: Retro Gamer issue 166

Is a new game for a retro system a modern game though? I think it fits in with the RG content better than the modern games for modern systems with retro stylings, or new games in long running franchises that have their roots in retro. Cronosoft have been on the go for longer than some of the games/...

Re: Retro Gamer issue 1

Dont see the fuss about the Cronosoft article. Thought it was great, even in 2017 they're publishing games for retro systems on tape etc. Its fascinating to read about them, an excellent article for me and for sure is right for the magazine. I think fuss may be over hyping the issue. I just questio...

Re: Bookazines / Specials

What about Amstrad CPC with Atari 8-bit? Amstrad would sell well in the UK but Atari 8-bit would sell well in the US - where it was second most popular 8-bit computer after the C64. Apparently the A8 was the second most popular 8-bitter in Germany too, again after the C64. I believe the CPC was top...
