Re: Top 10 Worst Video Game Consoles

^^^I was trying to make the point that when others criticised the 3DO, they were slating the format but saying it in a way that slated the actual hardware (which I thought was wrong since the two are separate things to judge). Personally I like the 3DO and it has some ace games so I'm certainly not...

Re: What lethal 80's toy was this?

They probably wouldn't be allowed now because Health & Safety jobsworths would call them 'dangerous' or some rot. Back in the 80s we had something else instead of H&S departments. It was called "common sense". ;)

Re: DC Thomson comics

I used to get the Commando & the Stargazer comics back when I was a kid. Starblazer , I think. I got the first few one summer, but didn't realise they were a regular thing. I recently got a small pile of them off eBay. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on your point of view) apart from thing...

Re: DC Thomson comics

I loved the relaunched Dandy and it was a valiant effort from all involved, unfortunately shops would rather sell cheap tacky toys with a comic thrown in and parents wrongly assume kids would be better entertained by such crap, instead of comics with plenty to read. Jamie Smart, Lew Stringer and And...

Re: Top 10 Worst Video Game Consoles

[quote="Megamixer" 3DO for example was well ahead of it's time and I can imagine some of the games being mind-blowing but it was handled badly, too expensive for many and quickly out-gunned by the likes of the Playstation. Does that mean that the 3DO hardware itself was crap? Not really. In these ca...

Re: What Comics did you read as a kid?

Oink was possibly the best comic I read as a kid. Totally nailed the kind of humor that appealed to me at that age (and the age I am now...). A friend still has isuue one and the flexi disc that came with. He can still be coerced into doing his own a cappella rendition when drunk. http://youtu.be/8...

Re: What grinds your gears ?

I sympathise with the noisy neighbours scenario. I've had some nightmare neighbours in the 12 years I lived in Belfast, but I've now moved to a quiet little seaside town about 20 or so miles out of the big smoke. Lovely, quiet place and it's that peace I was looking for - talk about feeling old! Thi...

Re: What Comics did you read as a kid?

No Tom Thug was an Oink! original and then went to Buster a few years later when Oink! folded. There was an Oink! computer game though so that's probably how you saw him in C&VG. Yeah it was aimed at 9-13 year olds but never spoke down to them and was truly modern in its humour, so it ended up being...

Cool!! :D

Thanks for posting these! I've never seen these ones as toys before, only in comic strip form.
