Re: Consoles on modern TVs

The N64 is almost unplayable on most modern HDTVs. Even with a RGB mod, it looks quite poor. Check some of my older posts where I compared N64 scart, s-video and composite on a HDTV. Other retro hardware holds up better on modern TVs - the Sega Megadrive and SNES in particular look lovely. However,...

Re: Got me a PSP - Now what?

Congratulations on your PSP purchase. Its a terrific handheld (although fairly weak out of the box). Once you have hacked it, you'll have a perfect gateway to playing 8 bit games without compromise, MD games will be 99% perfect, SNES 90%, and the ability to play PS1 Eboots is the reason why its stil...

Re: YOUR (retro) GOTY IS.....

3. Shadowrun - SNES. Wonderfully crafted and "mature" (for its time) RPG on the SNES. Gritty, dark, great plot, interesting and shady characters, top graphics and sound and an all round great experience that I highly recommend to everyone. 2. Speedball II - Amiga. Perfect controls, slick fast graphi...

Re: Now that 2DS makes sense

I tend to switch the 3D mode off for most of the 3DS games I play. Its a gimmick. I would like to see a 2DS in a clamshell design though, maybe a really mini one....A Nintendo 2DS Lite/Micro!

Re: Dead Rising 3

I'm at the point of being stumped on what to buy next for the Xbox One. I've finished Assassin's Creed, Ryse & Battlefield, Forza i'm chipping away at but my options are slim, so heavily considering this game next. What's the story like, if any? This is why I always wait a year or so after the laun...

Re: The gaming you just 'had to have' at all cost

Nope, I missed that whole thing. It's not my favourite console ever, but if you were to debate it on statistics; quantity and quality of games, and the best backwards compatibility, longevity and support of the console, sales (i know i know) - it is truly astonishing. One could never get bored on a...

Re: Classics you should have played

Unchartered 2 - PS3. I own it as well. Grim Fandango - PC. I think had is been available to play on SCUMM emulators, this would not be on the list anymore. Command & Conquer series - any platform. Civilization - multiformat Panzer Dragoon Saga - Saturn. Just bought a Saturn, but I refuse to pay the ...

Re: What's your favourite genre?

Probably driving games - I've wasted more hours on Nitro and Supercars 2 on the Amiga, Mario Kart on the SNES (and subsequent consoles) and Forza 2-4 on Xbox 360 than I care to imagine. I still play Forza 2 in fact, and frequently do 75 lap races with a mate online. I guess I play driving games the ...

Re: The gaming you just 'had to have' at all cost

Pokemon PS2 I originally held off on but when games like Tekken 5 and Soul Calibur III were coming out, I had to get one because these were sequels to my favourite series' and just looked too good to miss. Thankfully they lived up to their promise, I bought a huge number of games afterwards and the...

Re: Is there a genre you've never played?

I don't believe i've ever played an American Football game in my life. Not even the supposed "classic" ones like Madden on the Megadrive/Genesis. I find the sport to be dull, confusing and its name illogical (since they tend to play with their hands, far more than with their feet), and an actual gam...

Re: Modded original xbox

I fairly recently borrowed my brothers unwanted Xbox, and modded it. Its a pretty powerful emulation console, and in some aspects better than the Wii (although the Wii has its own strengths and advantages of the Xbox as well). I only have the standard 8GB hdd in it though. The whole replacing it wit...

Re: The gaming you just 'had to have' at all cost

For me, it was Street Fighter II and a Super Nintendo. Having played the arcade version for months, SF2 and a SNES was surely an essential - and the best port of them all. The SNES was a beast, and after I got one with SF2, I don't think I needed another SNES game for months. Then finally after comp...

Re: Sega Saturn Vs Sony Playstation 1

Hi, I just joined the forum and am a big fan of older games (6th gen and before). I just in fact purchased a Sega Saturn only yesterday and awaiting its delivery. I will then be able to truly comment on what is a better system out of PS1 and Saturn! I suspect that the PS1 is the much more accomplish...
