Re: Is the Atari Jaguar the most underrated console system?

The Jag's definitely got a few good games on it, but its flaws are often a little too apparent. While the general view that the system had two good games isn't correct, I'd look to other consoles as the most underrated. The PC Engine and Master System both have a good shout as they each have a numbe...

Re: Scary bosses?

Resident Evil 3's Nemesis definitely warrants a mention. Being stalked throughout the game by a more intelligent enemy added extra tension to the RE formula, and Capcom's Pavlovian use of music just heightened the terror.

Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 124

Reading through now and really enjoying it, however, how does an article about arcade racing games make little to no reference of sega rally. When we got to the PS1/Saturn discussion it was all about Daytona and PS1. Now I have only read it quickly and may have missed something but Sega rally was a...

Re: Sega Saturn Vs Sony Playstation 1

I've definitely got the whole Sega heritage going on, from the Master System childhood to years of importing Japanese Dreamcast games. Interviewing Yuji Naka was basically a dream come true. I can see how easy it is to be a little bitter about all the things that happened. But the important thing to...

Re: Atari June 1987 CES Sales Video

Nice find, it's always interesting to see these kinds of videos. I've got a real soft spot for Atari, as the 2600 was my first console. What really comes across is how much clearer the vision for the computing side of things is. The marketing for the ST is aggressively focused on price and performan...

Favourite Paperboy version?

Hi all, we're currently doing a piece on Paperboy. As it's appeared on at least 20 platforms including the arcade machine, it'd be nice to know which versions you guys hold as personal favourites. My own favourite is Tiertex's Master System release. Partially a nostalgic choice, but the game definit...

Re: What game have you COMPLETED this week

That'd be Flower, Sun and Rain for the DS. Your enjoyment of the game will depend upon your tolerance for the following: - Suda51 and his sense of humour - Narrative-heavy games - Low-polygon graphics with the roughest textures since the Saturn version of House of the Dead I got my kicks out of it (...

Re: Introduce yourself

Good morning all, I'm Nick Thorpe, the new Retro Gamer staff writer. You'll see my work in the magazine from Retro Gamer 124 onwards. A little bit about me: My dad introduced me to gaming with his Atari 2600 when I was much shorter (and far less beardy), and I've been playing ever since. I've amasse...
