Re: Retro Gamer - Issue 190

To be honest, the movie chart has been a temporary addition due to the lack of worthwhile game charts to cover in the early part of 2002. It's a weird time since the Xbox and GameCube don't have charts yet, but the PlayStation, N64 and Dreamcast are more or less dead. That only leaves the PS2 and PC...

Any idea when this issue is going to appear on Google play
Thanks for bringing this to our attention - it didn't go up when it was supposed to due to an error, but this has now been fixed.

Re: Please Help with Sega Saturn to upscale on my HDTV.

Not sure what's going on there, but the first place I'd look is your upscaler. Things to try: - Test it with a Saturn game that does proper 480i output (Virtua Fighter 2, Fighters Megamix) - Test it with your other consoles - most PS2 games and all Xbox and Gamecube games output in 480i as a default...

Re: Did I miss the Winter isssue or...?

We'd definitely have noticed if we'd only done 12! As normal, there were 13 issues published in 2018 - one every four weeks, so one per month with two in November: 177 - Greatest Games Systems (25th January) 178 - Goldeneye (22nd February) 179 - Pac-Man (22nd March) 180 - The Chaos Engine (19th Apri...

Top 10 PS2 games - vote now!

Hello everyone, it's been ages since we've done any democracy around here, so let's do some now! We want to know your top ten PlayStation 2 games. As normal, choose any ten PS2 games you like (but it has to be a full ten), ranking them in order of preference (10 points for your favourite, down to 1 ...

Re: PlayStation 3 - Retro or not?

The PS3 isn't retro by the mag's method (that'll be in 2021). But if you can find one of the ones with full PS2 compatibility that's somehow still in working condition, it's a great system for retro gaming. There's a nice selection of digital retro releases and of course the full physical PlayStatio...

Re: Neo Geo Mini Review in issue 188

Too late, they already let me have at it. Here's a gallery. Some of the games look better than others because they originally ran at a higher resolution - Tekken 3 comes out way better than Jumping Flash, for example.

Re: Neo Geo Mini Review in issue 188

We tried both the international model and the Japanese model, on different TV sets (our video capture device is broken, so I had to do screenshots at home). Having had a look at other reviews, they also complained about image quality, and the menus came out sharp with no problem so I think everythin...

Re: Neo Geo Mini Review in issue 188

First off, I'm glad you're enjoying the machine. It wasn't for me, for the reasons I mentioned in the review, but the games themselves are great and I'm pleased more people are enjoying them. I'm a fan of SNK's games in general, and particularly the Neo Geo - I bought and repaired an MVS board and h...

Re: Questions for Tony 'Big K' Takoushi

The Master System was already discontinued in Japan and America by the time you got to Sega, but still going in Europe. How much freedom did you have to build its first-party software line-up, and did you ever struggle to get Sega Japan to commit development resources?

From the forum: Issue 189 - Sonic Adventure

Hello everyone. It's that time of the month where I usually try to find a new way to introduce this post, but I don't really have time to this month because we've got short deadlines and no Darran. Oh well, that'll do. The question this time: What do you think of Sonic Adventure? The Dreamcast is 20...

Unfortunately this thread has turned into something of a trash fire, and so I've been summoned to extinguish it. Octav1us Kitten's videos are good and she's fun on Digitiser. She's on Twitter and she interacts with other users, so just get on there and chat with her if you want to know more about he...

Re: Sony announces Playstation 1 Classic

I wonder why they settled on including just 20 games. They could have doubled that number without too much effort (even if only by including some sequels). The manufacturing cost is something to consider here. I doubt there's a great deal of space left on whatever storage unit they've put in it, as...
